Responsibilities

  • In this role, your day-to-day duties and responsibilities will include;
  • Managing the accounting team of 2; AP and AR
  • Ensuring the accuracy of journal entries
  • Monitor accounting entries and reports by reviewing general ledger accounts on a daily / monthly / quarterly / yearly basis
  • Oversee Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable functions
  • Government remittances and filing of timely returns / reports, including GST / HST, corporate taxes
  • Perform monthly bank reconciliations
  • Ensure accuracy of reconciliation of ledgers accounts, intercompany billings, intercompany balances
  • Coordinate with external auditors and prepare working papers for auditors
  • Ensure year-end procedures are properly performed, and entries are properly entered
  • Review credit card expense analysis reports
  • Prepare financial and management reports as well as monthly reports for group of companies
  • Prepare year-end financial reporting package
  • Review monthly labour costing report and ensure accuracy of entries into the ERP
  • Assessing current accounting operations, and evaluating accounting and internal control systems
  • Conduct annual performance review of accounting staff
  • Manage and improve on ERP systems used to measure project profitability and operational profitability
  • Oversee IT maintenance and troubleshoot problems as they arise
  • Other ad-hoc tasks / projects

Qualifications

  • Post-secondary education in Accounting, Finance or Business
  • CPA designation
  • Minimum 10 years of progressive experience
  • Excellent interpersonal, leadership, and communication skills
  • A Keen eye to improve processes and create efficiencies
