Medical Transcriptionist, Anatomical Pathology

What you’ll do

  • Transcribe medical dictation such as autopsy, surgical and bone marrow reports, medicolegal consultation reports from dictation equipment and / or written draft.
  • Print, copy and distribute reports and other documents as required.
  • Enter patient demographics, specimen description and results in computer systems.
  • Set up and maintains filing systems of various files, records, slides, etc.
  • Book and schedule admission and discharge of outpatients as required.
  • Type material such as correspondence, papers, lectures, procedure manuals, memoranda, letters, reports from dictation and / or hand written draft.
  • Perform reception related duties such as answering incoming calls, taking messages, answering inquiries or referring as appropriate, and opening and distributing mail.
  • Perform related clerical duties such as photocopying, forwarding slides as requested and filing.
  • Perform other related duties as required.

What you bring

Qualifications

Grade 12, graduation from an approved program in medical transcription and one year's recent, related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Skills & Knowledge

Ability to keyboard at 60 style "font-family : arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size : 10pt;">

Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.

  • Ability to operate related equipment.

  • As a strong asset for consideration, we are looking for our successful candidate to have : Knowledge of social, economic, political and historical realities of settler colonialism on Indigenous Peoples and familiarity with addressing Indigenous-specific anti-racism, anti-racism and Indigenous Cultural Safety and foundational documents and legislative commitments (The Declaration Act, the Declaration Action Plan, TRC, IPS, Remembering Keegan, etc.).
