Your future role at BBA
Asgeotechnical engineer, you will perform tasks and provide services in the fieldof geotechnical engineering. You will be responsible for performinggeotechnical site investigations and analyses, preparing and reviewingdeliverables and reviewing design and construction, within the context of theoverall management objectives set for each project.
An overview of your mandates and responsibilities
- Carry out the technical management and direction of geotechnical site investigations, supervise activities in the context of these investigations, evaluate materials in the laboratory and prepare and review technical reports
- Review and supervise civil and geotechnical construction activities
- Conduct field evaluations and assess risks of landslides, perform mapping and produce reports
- Manage geotechnical instruments : prescribe, supervise installation, monitor and record results
- Analyze geotechnical characteristics, including slope stability, compacting, seepage, deformation and other characteristics
- Conduct soil mechanics and classification activities, assess slope stability and design reinforcing and supporting structures
- Ensure the technical quality of deliverables, as a member of multidisciplinary project teams
- Collaborate and participate in technical discussions with team members and clients
- Participate in the process of preparing and presenting proposals
- Travel to project sites within Canada, and occasionally overseas

Job requirements at a glance
- or Master's degree in Mining Engineering, Technical Geology or Civil Engineering, with a focus in Geotechnical Engineering
- Member of the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec
- Ten or more years of relevant professional experience in geotechnical engineering
- Strong academic background and solid understanding of soil mechanics
- Strong written and spoken communication skills, technical-writing experience and presentation skills
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work well on a team
- Mastery of geotechnical design software (FLAC, SLOPE / W, SEEP / W); other geotechnical software an asset
- Ability and willingness to travel to project sites
- Asset : bilingualism (English and French)
