We are currently seeking a Mechanical Engineering Designer / Technologist for our Surrey, BC office. This role offers a blend of in-office and field work, providing a comprehensive experience in both environments.
The successful candidate will be responsible for various tasks that require attention to detail, problem-solving, and a proactive approach to engineering challenges.
Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities :
- Performing, dimensioning and design work on all types of machinery and associated components for the creation of as-built drawings and engineering
- Assisting Inspection Technicians with field inspections
- Performing inspections independently when required. This includes traveling to various sites to ensure compliance with design specifications and standards.
- Preparing fabrication and as-built drawings using AutoCAD 2D and 3D software in accordance with CAD standards
- Applying engineering methods to understand and resolve design issues
- Providing drafting support and assistance to other engineering team members
- Performing field measurements and sketches
- Aiding engineering and administrative personnel
- Furthering personal knowledge by becoming familiar with all standard steel, concrete, and timber material specifications;
weld symbols; and applicable codes and standards
Required Skills and Qualifications :
- Preference for candidates with a Mechanical Engineering Technologist Diploma and strong skills in computer-aided design (CAD)
- Preference given to experience with access scaffold and shoring design
- Familiar with structural and architectural drawings
- Strong mechanical aptitude
- Ability to work out in the field, performing inspections and collaborating with on-site teams to ensure project standards and specifications are met.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Must demonstrate a high degree of accuracy and strong attention to detail in all aspects of work
- Fast learner with a desire to grow personally and professionally
- Team player with ability to work independently and with minimum direction
- Applicant must be legally entitled to work in Canada
