Job Summary

As a keymember of the BC Management Team, the Controller position is a hands-on roleresponsible for ensuring that the Accounting and Finance team provides theservices necessary to support the operational and financial success of theorganization.

Reporting directly to the CEO, the successful candidatewill be an articulated and motivated seasoned professional, filled with passionand commitment to help us grow and succeed for the future.

The Controlleris an expert at building relationships with stakeholders at all levels bothinternally and externally and your career demonstrates entrepreneurialachievements.

What You Will Achieve in This Role :

  • Oversee the preparation of monthly consolidated financial statements for Emterra Group and coordinate external year-end review;
  • Manage multi-location financial reporting, including standardization of reporting and review processes;
  • Manage Accounting Services (payroll, AP, AR and general accounting) and organize department assignment;
  • Analyze and interpret accounting and operational data to forecast profitability and performance against budget;
  • Coach, train and evaluate performance of direct reports;
  • Identify new opportunities that drive financial success;
  • Ensure the timely preparation of month-end financial statements;
  • Lead month-end close for all divisions and maintain various schedules such as fixed assets, amortization schedules, month-end adjusting entries;
  • Assist in reconciliations as required for audited financial statements;
  • Provide commentary on monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements and insight on individual operations across the region;
  • Initiate and implement process improvement and accounting control measures;
  • Assume responsibility for the coordination and submission of annual budget preparation; and
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

What You Bring to The Table :

  • Completion of relevant post-secondary education (minimum Bachelor’s degree in related field);
  • Professional designation (CA, CGA or CMA);
  • Minimum of 5 years experience in a Controller role within a large private organization;
  • Experience in the waste / recycling, manufacturing, and / or transportation industry considered an asset;
  • Demonstrated business acumen, strategic thinking and an ability to execute against formulated strategy;
  • Strong leadership skills, able to effect positive change through structured training, coaching and engagement initiatives;
  • Prior experience managing a team of both direct and indirect reports in a multi-site operating environment;
  • Process-oriented thinking with strong analytical skills and a detail-oriented commitment to excellence;
  • Exceptional customer service skills with both internal and external stakeholders;
  • Excellent command of the English language and strong presentation skills;
  • Proficient with MS Office Suite along with experience in or the willingness / capacity to learn industry-specific programs; and
  • Experience with Microsoft Dynamic Business Central considered an asset.
