Talent Acquisition Specialist (St. Thomas)

Talent Acquisition Specialist, based out of St. Thomas, ON
Our mission has started. Volkswagen Group’s largest cell factory in St. Thomas will carry out all battery activities from processing raw materials to developing a unified Volkswagen battery to managing the European and North American gigafactories.

For the ramp-up phase of our North American operations, we are looking for a passionate Talent Acquisition professional who wants to CELLebrate in fast-paced and fast-changing environments.
Reporting temporarily to the Manager, Talent Acquisition of Volkswagen Group Canada, you will work closely with our PowerCo SE Headquarters in Germany as well as colleagues from the Volkswagen Group Canada (VGCA) in Ajax, ON to recruit and acquire top talent.
The role will be based out of St. Thomas, ON and you will be tasked with sourcing and recruiting all roles required for this start-up journey that will serve as the cornerstone for the development of our North American battery plant.
This is a flex hybrid model, requiring 2 days in the St. Thomas office
Primary Responsibilities :
- Work with PowerCo SE and temporarily with VGCA as trusted advisors to hiring managers to understand talent needs and develop effective recruitment strategies
- Use creative sourcing strategies to proactively identify and attract top talent for open and future positions
- Screen and identify candidates to present to hiring managers, facilitate and participate in the interview process while ensuring objectivity and compliance
- Collaborate in developing interview guides following the strategic processes of the Volkswagen Group
- Collaborate with the German Headquarters to develop and localize own recruiting processes for the company ramp up
- Recruit candidates through target group-specific advertisements via active sourcing and other channels such as external recruitment agencies or social media channels
- Conduct full cycle recruitment (i.e. posting jobs, screening, interviewing, issuance of employment contracts, etc)
- Build trust and rapport with candidates, ensuring a high degree of focus on the candidate experience
- Build and nurture effective local partnerships with schools, services and the community through networking events, programs, and social media
- Organize and / or attend career fairs, assessment centers or other events as needed.
- Use metrics to create reports and identify areas of improvement (KPIs)
- Perform other duties as assigned or as pertinent for the function and operation
Qualifications
Qualifications :
- Post Secondary Education in Business, Human Resources or relevant work experience
- 5+ years of relevant full-cycle recruiting experience with a proven track record of sourcing and attracting qualified candidates in a high volume setting
- CHRP is strongly desired along with strong knowledge of Canadian employment law
- Previous experience with sourcing and staffing automotive, technical, battery, or advanced manufacturing profiles required
- Solid experience with people, process, systems, and culture development
- Proficiency with Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS) Experience with Success Factors is considered an asset
- Strong customer service orientation with a high attention to detail and sensitivity to confidential information
- Ability to align organizational needs with solutions; manage client solutions and maintain collaboration under challenging conditions
- Occasional travel to Ajax, ON as needed during ramp-up. Travel to job fairs, events and conferences. Occasional international travel to HQ in Germany (total travel up to 30%)
- Overtime may be required to meet ramp-up deadlines

- Proven success collaborating with senior business leaders and adding value through the delivery of HR solutions that improve workforce capability and organizational performance while protecting the interests of the Company.
- Skilled in planning, strategic partnering, relationship management, collaboration, building trust, and service delivery
- Global hiring experience is a strong plus
- German language skills are considered an asset
