Mechanical Designer for Space Products Team Leader

As a mechanical designer of space products, you will be called upon to collaborate with a multidisciplinary engineering team to develop Photonics products for space applications.

As part of one or more project teams, you will be responsible for establishing the concepts of our custom space products for international clients.

From the submission phase to the detailed definition, you will define the mechanical assemblies to ensure that the final product meets the specific needs of the customer and can survive the conditions of a defined space environment.

As a Team Leader, you will be responsible for coordinating the activities related to its mechanical design in order to ensure the smooth progress of the project.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for mechanical system design of space assemblies :
• Understand customer requirements.
• Propose concepts that meet the requirements including cost targets and manufacturability.
• Choose / design the components according to the constraints to be respected.
• Integrate concepts from the disciplines of optical, electrical engineering, materials, structural and thermal analysis into a 3D model.
• Supervision of mechanical design team to lead mechanical innovations and improvements of the space photonic products in order to accommodate various customer requirements for size, mass, and thermal heat management.
• Responsible of overseeing mechanical tasks such as design, simulations, and space qualification test campaigns (TVAC, Vibration, Shock) within the mechanical design team on all space programs.
• Overseeing and writing test reports for qualification test campaigns.
• Assisting management in writing proposals, milestone presentations and reports.
• Perform opto-mechanical design using Solidworks, thermal and vibration simulations using ANSYS.
• Elaborate mass and volume budgets
• Perform radiation analysis and simulations using FASTRAD and OMERE software.
• Follow up with mechanical suppliers about manufacturing issues.

Qualifications Required

• Minimum Bachelor Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field
• 5 year of experience in mechanical structure design and design analysis
• Strong analytical ability in structural analysis, static & dynamic analysis, frequency response analysis
• Experience with Solidworks software is must
• Experience with ANSYS for thermal and vibration analysis is must
• Knowledge of FASTRAD and OMERE
• Space or Aerospace experience
• Experience with fiber optics is an asset
• Self starter with the ability to motivate others
• Ability to work well within a team
• Excellent communication skills - both written and verbal

Concepteur Mécanique de Produits Spatiaux Chef d’Équipe

À titre de concepteur mécanique de produits spatiaux, vous serez appelé à collaborer avec une équipe d'ingénierie multidisciplinaire pour développer des produits photoniques à application spatiale.

Faisant partie d’une ou plusieurs équipes de projet, vous serez responsable de l’établissement des concepts de nos produits spatiaux personnalisés pour clients internationaux.

De la phase de soumission jusqu’à la définition détaillée, vous définirez les composants des assemblages mécaniques afin de vous assurer que le produit final réponde aux besoins spécifiques du client et puisse survivre aux conditions environnementales définies par l’application spatiale.

Comme chef d’équipe, vous serez également responsable de la coordination des activités reliées à la conception afin d’assurer une bonne progression du projet.

Responsabilités

• Responsable de la conception de systèmes mécaniques d’amplificateurs spatiaux :
• Comprendre les exigences du client.
• Proposer des concepts répondant aux exigences.
• Choisir / concevoir les composantes en fonction des contraintes du projet.
• Intégrer les concepts provenant des disciplines de plusieurs domaines tels que l’électronique, les matériaux, l’analyse structurelle et thermique dans un modèle 3D.
• Supervision de l’équipe de conception mécanique pour diriger les innovations mécaniques et l’amélioration des amplificateurs à fibre spatiales afin de répondre aux diverses exigences des clients en matière de taille, de masse et de gestion thermique de la chaleur.
• Responsable de la supervision des tâches mécaniques telles que la conception, les simulations et les campagnes d’essais de qualification spatiale (TVAC, Vibration, Choc, etc.

au sein de l’équipe de conception mécanique pour tous les programmes spatiaux.

• Superviser et rédiger des rapports de test pour les campagnes de tests de qualification.
• Aider la direction à rédiger des propositions, des présentations d’étape et des rapports.
• Effectuer une conception opto-mécanique à l’aide de Solidworks ainsi que des simulations thermiques et structurelles à l’aide d’ANSYS.
• Élaborer des budgets de masse et de volume.
• Effectuer l’analyse de radiation via simulation en utilisant les logiciels FASTRAD et OMERE.
• Faire le suivi de la conformité et qualité des pièces mécaniques avec les fournisseurs.

Qualifications minimales requises :

• Baccalauréat en génie mécanique ou dans un domaine connexe.
• 5 années d’expérience en conception de structures mécaniques et en analyse de conception.
• Forte capacité en analyse structurelle, statique et dynamique ainsi qu’en analyse de réponse fréquentielle.
• Expérience avec les logiciels Solidworks est indispensable.
• Expérience avec ANSYS pour l’analyse thermique et structurelle est indispensable.
• Connaissance de FASTRAD et OMERE.
• Expérience en aérospatiale est un atout.
• Expérience dans le domaine de la fibre optique est un atout.
• Capacité à s’auto-motiver.
• Bonne capacité à travailler en équipe.
• Excellentes compétences en communication, tant à l’oral qu’à l’écrit.
