General Accountabilities
- Beyond the skills a Power Maintenance Electrician 'A', employees will be skilled in and perform duties using some and may be skilled in and perform duties in all of the following skill areas :
- Lead Hand Skills (including documentation, job planning, knowledge of work management systems)
- Work Protection Skills (including establishing, and holding)
- Contract Monitoring Skills
- Advanced Electronics Skills
- Instrumentation Skills
- Basic Mechanical Maintenance Skills
- Operating Skills (acting as operator's agent)
- Environmental Management Skills (such as PCB management, WHMIS, waste management, etc)
Selection Criteria :
- Demonstrated ability in project management / coordination.
- Proven ability to work independently.
- Strong leadership skills and a passion for safety
- Able to adapt to changing priorities and initiatives.
- High level of initiative / energy.
- Cooperates with others in a manner that develops trust, mutual respect and positive working relationships.
- Strong customer orientation and commitment to corporate goals.
- Completed Construction & Maintenance Electrician License 309A
- Completed Stations 6 Year RME Course
Essential Competencies and Qualifications :
- Must have good theoretical knowledge and extensive field experience in Stations functions.
- Knowledge of computer technology to utilize systems for collecting data
- Good knowledge of English in order to communicate effectively
- Knowledge of the operations and maintenance policies, programs and procedures of stations plant and equipment.
- Knowledge of safety and environmental legislation, corporate policies and procedures.
- This knowledge is considered to be normally acquired through the successful completion of Grade XII
Experience :
- Requires experience working in a trades, technical and operating environment in the electrical distribution and transmission business.
- Requires experience in project management and in the distribution and transmission utility business to acquire an understanding of the technical aspects of the job, work methods, work equipment, materials and terms.
- Requires electrical (Protection and Control and Electrical Maintenance) and mechanical knowledge associated with stations work to be familiar with work requirements in the field.
- Requires labour relations experience as it relates to the work activities of the unions and trades.
- A minimum of 10 years of relevant experience is considered necessary for this position.
