WeAre WSP

What you can expect to do here :

  • Scoping and leading wildlife related-surveys, reporting and permitting activities.
  • Directing junior staff in field-related activities
  • Identification of potential environmental constraints in relation to proposed developments (e.g. sensitive habitat, species-at-risk);
  • Conduct field assessments to industry standards and contribute to reports for projects within a variety of sectors (i.e.
  • oil and gas, transportation, municipal infrastructure, renewable energy, and oil and gas sector);
  • Analyze, evaluate and interpret data while providing results within the scope and objective(s) of a specific project;
  • Implement corporate and client safety programs; and
  • Other duties as assigned

What you'll bring to WSP :

  • Minimum of 5 years' experience conducting wildlife related work;
  • Education : Diploma or B.Sc. in appropriate discipline and / or advanced degree;
  • Experience in the environmental industry (Oil and Gas, Energy and Utilities) conducting wildlife surveys, particularly leading breeding bird point count, migratory bird nesting and amphibian surveys in western Canada.
  • Strong wildlife identification skills;
  • Field experience in wildlife and Species at Risk surveys;
  • Ability to lead wildlife surveys and assessments and conduct construction monitoring;
  • Experience with reporting and Saskatchewan environmental regulatory processes;
  • Willingness to travel and participate in field work away from home for extended periods of time;
  • Work locations are within western Canada and ability to adapt to unpredictable and / or inclement field conditions and changing schedules is required;
  • Effective communication skills;
  • Strong organizational and time management skills;
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, team-oriented;
  • Basic GIS skills and understanding; and
  • A valid drivers license .

Preference will be given to candidates with the following :

  • Experience with digital data collection and data management;
  • SPIGEC Qualified;
  • Experience designing environmental studies; and
  • Experience in multiple terrestrial disciplines (e.g., wildlife, vegetation, and wetlands).
