They are looking to bring on a new Master Electrician within the Greater Toronto Area. The ideal candidate thrives in project planning as well as installation, possesses good electrical and controls knowledge; and works well in teams.
The Master Electrician will primarily plan, assemble, install, service, and troubleshoot commercial BAS systems as well as industrial control systems in the Greater Toronto Area.
With a proactive approach, the incumbent will strategically plan and oversee construction projects as well as manage sub-contractors.
Compensation Range :
$45-$58 per hour, based on experience and qualifications
Duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to the following :
- Install Control Systems, Manage, & Oversee Projects :
- Oversee and manage new construction projects and ensure effective planning and installation.
- Read and interpret electrical drawings, circuit diagrams, and electrical code specifications to ensure regulations and safety standards are satisfied during installation.
- Conduct electrical rough-ins efficiently and effectively while minimizing waste.
- Plan and perform installation of control wiring, field devices, and networks for assigned jobs
- Perform commissioning of controls points, field devices and networks
- Organize and schedule inspections as required.
- Efficiently transition projects to ensure a successful project turnover and commissioning to automation team
- Hire and manage electrical sub-contractors as required to ensure projects are completed in a timely manner
- Resolve and manage conflicts within the job sites especially issues that arise with sub-contractors or other trades.
- Ensure tools and equipment are maintained and serviced when required.
- Proactively conduct preventative service and maintenance to ensure facilities are optimizing energy usage
Perform Service of Control Systems :
- Deal with on-site warranty and ongoing service issues of BAS control systems as required
- Work with automation team and inside service tech to troubleshoot BAS problems
- Perform scheduled maintenance of BAS control systems
Communication and Teamwork :
- Work closely with Project Coordinator, Estimating, and Service Coordinator, to ensure materials are ordered and project deliverables are met in a timely manner.
- Collaborate with engineers, sales, and general contractors to ensure project requirements are captured.
- Develop good working relationship with the Service Coordinator to ensure work orders and preventative maintenance are addressed efficiently.
- Maintain good working relationship and effective lines of communication with technicians, customers, and sub-contractors
- Develop and train apprentices to ensure the company provides high quality work.
Qualifications & Experience :
- Successful completion of a post-secondary education coupled with 3-5 years of electrical installation and running projects within a similar industry.
- Electrical Journeyman certification within the province of Ontario and / or Red Seal certification as well as Master Electrician in the province of Ontario is required.
- Previous experience in effectively and efficiently managing projects and sub-contractors.
- Excellent knowledge of the Electrical Code as well as Occupational Health and Safety Act.
- Possess a valid Driver’s License and possess a clean driving record.
- Experience or knowledge of Building Automation Controls and control wiring is considered an asset.
- Working knowledge of computers and software applications such as MS Office Suite, Excel, and project management software is essential.
- Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate important information effectively to technicians, engineers, automation, and customers.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment
- A keen learner and a self-starter with the ability to innovate and suggest process improvements
- Possess a strong work ethic and initiate effective teamwork
- Willing and able to work overtime or on-calls as required.
- Ability to lift up to 50-70+lbs unassisted
