As a Senior Project Manager, you will oversee end-to-end project management for Business and Technology Projects. Your role involves collaborating with stakeholders across the organization to drive alignment, manage resources, and deliver successful outcomes.

You will be responsible for ensuring the project goals are achieved on time, within scope, and within budget. In this position, you will work closely with the Product team and Business / Technology Stakeholders to address business needs while delivering new products and solutions.

You will apply advanced project management best practices and an agile, value-driven approach. Additionally, you will provide executive management with detailed reports on project health, status, and any blockers.

What is it like working as a Project Manager at Questrade?

As a Senior Project Manager, you will work as part of an Enterprise PMO and alongside a cross-functional team of Product Owners, Senior Managers, C-Suite executives, Technology teams.

You will serve a range of different stakeholders and be responsible for building relationships and reporting on the status of projects and tasks.

Reporting to the Program Manager, Journey Office PMO you will help prioritize projects as they are requested and work to ensure your projects are running as efficiently as possible.

  • Project Management for various technology pillars
  • Producing plans for projects
  • Aligning stakeholders and technical teams on release readiness
  • Identifying project timelines and dependencies
  • Champions and promotes our PMO Agile practices by improving on agile project management processes within and outside of the PMO

So, are you the ideal candidate for our Senior Project Manager role? You are if you :

Deliver comprehensive project management : Develop and oversee detailed project plans, work back schedules, estimates, and status reports.

Provide continuous updates to both internal and external teams on project progress.

  • Serve as the primary liaison : Act as the main contact for internal stakeholders, effectively bridging communication between stakeholders and the technology team.
  • Lead project meetings and ensure success : Conduct project meetings to ensure deadlines and specifications are met. Prepare and review project tracking reports, analyses, and ensure all deliverables adhere to quality standards.
  • Manage risk and issue tracking : Oversee the identification, tracking, and reporting of risks and issues. Develop and maintain status reports to provide insight into project health.
  • Support PMO methodology and milestone management : Implement and champion SAFe practices and milestone management processes for multiple projects, ensuring alignment with agile and non agile principles.
  • Proactively manage project risks : Identify potential project risks and work collaboratively with the Program Manager to develop and execute effective mitigation strategies.
  • Assist with business proposals and documentation : Contribute to the development of business proposals and project documentation that align with executive needs and strategic objectives.
  • Leverage technological knowledge : Maintain a strong understanding of current and emerging technologies, applying relevant insights to enhance and drive ongoing initiatives.

  • Project Management Expertise : 5+ years of experience managing technology projects in banking and financial services, with a strong focus on delivery.
  • Regulatory Knowledge : Familiarity with Canadian banking regulatory requirements and practices.
  • Technical Skills : Solid understanding of banking operations and technical competencies relevant to the field.
  • Agile Experience : Proficient in Agile methodologies including Scrum, Kanban, and SAFe. Experience with agile project management workflows such as milestones, critical paths, and work back schedules.
  • Organizational Skills : Highly organized with excellent time management abilities.
  • Communication : Strong written and verbal communication skills, capable of clear and effective interaction.
  • Flexibility : Ability to adapt and shift focus based on changing priorities.
  • Interpersonal Skills : Excellent interpersonal skills, with a strong capacity for documentation and communication.
  • Educational Background : Post-secondary education with a degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business Management, or a related field.
  • Experience : 6-8 years of relevant experience in banking or financial services, or an equivalent background.
  • Project Management Tools : Experience with Smart Sheets, Click Up, JIRA, Confluence, and G Suite.
  • Analytical Skills : Strong understanding of business processes, data analysis, and object-oriented analysis and modeling techniques.

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, IT, Business, and / or Finance with relevant Regulatory and Financial Transformation project experience.
  • PMP certification is an asset.
