The Senior Manager, Marketing Communications is responsible for the creation and execution of marketing communications, promotions, programs and events, in support of CE (HE and EBD) divisional goals.

This position will need to understand the marketing objectives and divisional targets that need to be achieved and work with both internal and external stakeholders (Corporate Marketing, Sales, Product, Marketing agencies, HQ, Samsung Electronics America) to create the deliverables to achieve these goals.

This includes overseeing and managing IMC (Integrated Marketing Campaigns) to support divisional brand marketing goals for HE and EBD consumer products.

In tandem, working with the Product and Sales teams, this position will oversee all NPI (New Product Introduction) activities and guide all channel activities.

While the position will focus on marketing communications, the incumbent needs to be flexible enough to oversee ad hoc marketing programs, as the needs of the business arise.

Role and Responsibilities

HE and EBD Go-to-market and Brand Marketing Strategy, planning and execution (60%) :

  • Understand the market opportunity through insights shared by the research team to develop the go-to-market and brand strategy for key category product launches
  • Brief external marketing agencies and develop and strategize go-to-market campaigns for key products and communicate and present to key internal stake holders for buy-in
  • Determine key messaging and positioning for product and services launches
  • Lead the full IMC process for all HE and EBD marketing initiatives (new product launches, seasonal campaigns, etc), based on HE divisional strategy and targets
  • Lead launch team that includes internal and external stakeholders, including NAHQ counterparts
  • Brief agencies, build the strategy, finalize campaigns and ensure work is delivered as specified
  • Create communications and programs that support HE and EBD product and services launches, including but not limited to : IMC creative + consumer messagingPaid media (OLV, DOOH, TVC, Social Media, Print Media etc.

  • Be responsible for reviewing any marketing materials and or messaging related to the launch to ensure consistency and alignment with positioning
  • Act as the champion for brand integrity and compliance in all materials
  • With minimal support from the CE Marketing Director, be able to provide final approval as the lead for the HE and EBD Brand Marketing team.
  • Ensure all reviews and approvals are gained (legal, partners, brands, etc.)
  • Estimate scope of work, prepare budgets, and create plan proposals (PPs) and execution orders (EOs) as part of the planning and approval process.

Also ensure budgets remain on track and are consistent with original plan and scope, and take the lead should any pivots or changes arise.

  • Work directly with HQ, STA or third parties to source marketing assets
  • Review key programs to ensure ROI targets are achieved and share wrap reports, key learnings, and results to Samsung Electronics Canada (SECA) executive team, and HQ as needed
  • Take on the role of the HE / EBD Lead for partner / sponsorship and event based programs that are cross-divisional. Support with strategy development / plan execution and third party business relations ie.

joint business planning across HE / EBD for Cineplex

Work with internal SMEs on SECA Owned and Operated platforms to ensure HE and EBD messaging and content is consistent.

Ie. Social media platforms, CRM, S.com

  • Manage marketing initiatives and programs outside of IMC campaigns such as Google Search, CRM onboarding, product promos, live commerce, etc.
  • Analyze results to track performance and quickly identify any issues, trends or opportunities to continuously optimize campaign performance and improve marketing programs

NPI and Channel Marketing Support (30%) :

  • Provide support and guidance to Sr. Specialist Brand Marketing to build materials as required to deliver channel programs through an appropriate online tool.
  • Oversee the creation and / or adaptation of communications and programs that leverage the communication channels created by our national retail and dealer channels (ie flyers magazines, online, POP) in support of new product launches
  • Ensure that tactics meet the NPI launch objectives and masterbrand tone & manner
  • Act as the champion for brand style and compliance on all materials
  • Sign-off on any communication elements to ensure alignment to the product or program strategy
  • This position will collaborate with the SECA Merchandising team to ensure a high degree of compliment between the out of store and in-store communications and activities, that support our key product launches
  • Review all communication elements to ensure alignment to the product strategy, as well as branding

Marketing Operations for HE and EBD (10%) :

Coordinates system submission and approvals (legal, marketing, finance, sample management) for marketing initiatives in order to support on time execution of marketing programs.

This includes following up with key business stakeholders to ensure that approvals are taking place on time, and escalating if they are not.

Legal approvals include LCP, and ECMS management. Marketing Finance system submissions include Plan Proposals, Execution Orders, Payment Requests, PUMI submissions, and FOC orders.

Skills and Qualifications

Education :

Post-Secondary Education in Business or Marketing preferred

Knowledge :

Strong proficiency in Excel, Word, PowerPoint and other MS Office applications

Experience :

A minimum of 8+years work experience in a marketing role preferred
