Scope :

Pomeroy Kananaskis Mountain Lodge is a 400+ room Autograph Collection by Marriott; located 60 minutes from west of Calgary International Airport.

As Director of Food & Beverage you will have oversight of 6 restaurants and catering. Total revenues are projected to be $18M for 2024.

The role is accountable for the people, quality and financial results of the F&B Division. The long term focus of the role is to improve the guest experience in our F&B outlets and banquets operation.

Key Focuses :

  • Delivers excellence in everything they or their people present and convey; understands there is never a 2nd chance to make a great 1st impression
  • Is visible in operations throughout the day, supporting execution / presentation of standards, guest experiences and revenue optimization
  • Directs overarching training programs to deliver agreed upon operating and service standards through their front-line people
  • Creates a work environment, value proposition and processes that attracts and retains employees in sufficient quality and quantity
  • Provides direct reports with the resources, direction, coaching, feedback and goal setting required for their continuous development
  • Does not allow shortfalls to operating standards to go unaddressed; supported by clearly communicated expectations and real time coaching
  • Engages team members and works with stakeholders to deliver picture perfect first impressions in all public areas and back of house areas
  • Has the technical job skills required to maintain and adjust cost control procedures to meet budgeted expectations
  • Works collaboratively with Culinary to create a resort-wide F&B program that supports positioning by outlet and expected cost of sales
  • Sets par levels and control procedures to make sure their employees have the product, tools and materials required to be successful
  • Able to identify problems : gather information, develop alternatives, select optimal solution, implement, measure and evaluate outcomes
  • Creates business plans and budgets for their area that support the overall market positioning and financial goals of the organization
  • Reviews financial outcomes daily, weekly, monthly; making adjustments to optimize revenues and margins
  • Assigned deliverables are executed in a manner that requires little or no follow up; both in terms of timeliness, scope and quality
  • As an Executive Team member builds collaborative relationships, both internally and externally, that supports delivery of organizational KPIs
  • Personal communication, interactions and behaviors (and those of their people) support all five of the organization's core values

Experience / Passions / Education :

  • Post secondary degree or diploma
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • 3+ years senior management experience in hospitality
  • Comfortable with technology and open to new learning
  • Strong background in restaurants is required
  • Proven track record in building and developing leader’s teams

Working Conditions / Physical Demands :

Due to the 365 day a year operation of the property the position may be exposed to long shifts that at times include late hours, weekends, and holidays.

Typical work week would be Tuesday through Saturday. This position is set in a fast-paced environment, with high levels of interaction with guests, employees, and other stakeholders.

The position will spend a lot of time on their feet : multitasking competing priorities, effectively dealing with confrontation from employees and guests and leading a culture of service excellence.
