B2Gold is a low-cost international senior gold producer headquartered in Vancouver, Canada. Founded in 2007, today, B2Gold has operating gold mines in Mali, Namibia and the Philippines, a mine under construction in northern Canada and numerous development and exploration projects in various countries including Mali, Colombia and Finland. B2Gold forecasts total consolidated gold production of between 860,000 and 940,000 ounces in 2024.

Position

IT Specialist, Nunavut

Location and Reporting Structure

Reporting to the Manager, Information Technology this position will be a fly in- fly out 6x3 rotation based in Nunavut, Canada.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and implement large-scale IT projects that align with company goals and industry standards;
• Configure and operate firewalls, switches, access points and similar data network equipment;
• Set up, configure, and maintain computers and other end user IT equipment;
• Support Mine site end users with their IT needs and maintain data networks;
• Operating server infrastructure and configuring the IT environment of the mine site;
• Develop and maintain robust network security measures, including firewalls, intrusion detection systems, and access controls to protect company assets and information;
• Manage and configure radio communications, firewalls, and access points;
• Program and maintain software solutions for information processing and verification of their correct functioning;
• Analyze processes and manage model development;
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in security and ICS; and
• Ensure compliance with industry standards, regulatory requirements, and company policies.

Desired Competencies and Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field;
• Experience working on a remote site with limited access to resources;
• Minimum of five (5) years’ experience in Information Technology with a focus on the mining industry;
• Proven experience with routing, switching and wireless technologies;
• Experience with end user support and associated endpoint management technologies;
• Willingness to work on a rotational basis at a remote site adapting to challenging environments and fluctuating work schedules;
• Experience with Windows Server systems, virtualization, and enterprise IT infrastructure; and
• Certification in relevant technologies, such as CISSP, CCNA or CCNP, is considered an asset.

Compensation and Benefits

For informational purposes, the estimated annual earnings are $124,709.00 for 2184 scheduled hours (combined regular hourly rate of $45.25 and overtime rate of $67.88) in a work year.
