About the role
Join the Credit Assessment and Underwriting team where we contribute to making the delivery of housing solutions easy. You will be one of four Senior Managers overseeing the review and approval of multi-unit rental mortgage loan insurance applications.
This includes the provision of underwriting and credit assessment services to achieve overall client satisfaction as well as program and corporate objectives in the best interest of all Canadians.
Please note this is a temporary position with a duration of 15 months.
What you'll do :
- Provide leadership in the assessment and decision-making of financial applications, that is, multi-unit mortgage loan insurance within the associated policy framework and delegated financial authorities.
- Support the delivery of financial solutions related to Multi-Unit Mortgage Loan Insurance products and oversee the collaboration with peers from various divisions to provide comprehensive services to clients and achieve business objectives.
- Develop objectives and take responsibility for engagement, enabling a culture of learning, performance management and accountability within a divisional group.
- Create opportunities that encourage bilingualism and diversity and implement practices to advance an inclusive, healthy organization, respectful of the diversity of people and their skills and free from harassment and discrimination.
- Oversee the identification and management of risk by ensuring due diligence, while reviewing and approving complex applications, and monitoring compliance to product design, policies and the quality of results by reviewing key performance indicators.
- Ensure that housing providers' financial request and internal risk and social outcomes are appropriately considered during the application review stage.
What you should have :
- An undergraduate degree in accounting, finance, business administration or commerce or a related field.
- A minimum of ten years’ relevant experience in financial risk management and five years of supervisory and / or management experience including leading projects.
- Expert knowledge and understanding of underwriting theories, principles and processes, as well as credit risk analysis, real estate financing, loan adjudication, mortgage loan insurance and financial markets.
- Ability to make a persuasive, clear presentation of ideas that will convince others and gain acceptance of proposals or plans.
- Ability to use critical thinking, judgment and experience to find a solution when managing issues of a politically sensitive nature.
Ability to act promptly to resolve conflict.
- Proactive thinking to identify potential problems and forthcoming challenges.
- Knowledge and experience in change management.
- Bilingualism (English and French).
It would be great if you also had :
- A certification in Real Estate Finance, Chartered Financial Analyst or Chartered Professional Accountant designation.
- Experience in real estate appraisals.
