Morrison Hershfield's Transportation Division provides planning, design and construction administration services for roadway, highway, transit / rail, bridge and related projects.

We are currently seeking a Contract Administrator to complement our transportation team in Ottawa to play a lead role in the delivery of environmental assessment and functional / preliminary and detail design assignments primarily for public sector clients.

Due to expanding business opportunities in Ontario and elsewhere within the company, this position offers growth in the areas of technical / professional development and project management.

Responsibilities :

The Construction Administrator shall work on all aspects of administering a construction contract, including but not limited to :

  • Monitoring and calculating production rates
  • Monitors compliance with and administers terms of operational constraints of the contract
  • Monitors compliance to commitments and administers construction contract provisions regarding the Contractor's Quality Control Performance Measures
  • Checks and inspects construction activities, operations and work to ensure compliance with the contract documents, drawings, and specifications
  • Verifies site surveys, scope of work, relevant information, equipment and materials and reviews quality and payment records for accuracy and completeness.
  • Administers Change Orders, Information Requests and Compensation Requests
  • Compiles field / test data in a report form
  • Liaise / coordinate with service providers for specialized inspections and / or testing to ensure the tasks are completed in accordance with the terms or reference, specifications or agreement
  • Attends and chair site meetings as required
  • Ensures video / photographic records are obtained as required
  • Records, reviews and addresses contractor questions and clarifications for resolution
  • Able to handle multiple priorities without losing focus

Qualifications :

  • A Post Secondary degree or diploma in Civil Engineering or Civil Engineering Technology / Technician
  • Minimum 4 years' experience in engineering / construction working on Ministry of Transportation and / or municipal projects
  • Either registration as a Professional Engineer with PEO or as a Technician or Technologist with O.A.C.E.T.T.
  • Designation as determined by OACETT as a Road Construction Contract Administration (rcca)
  • Successful completion of the T131 Advanced Claims Dispute Resolution Training and T131A Refresher Course or the TLT131 Advanced Issues Resolution training
  • Able to work on weekends and nights, as required
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to work well in a team environment
  • Proficiency with MS Office
  • A valid Ontario driver's license and access to a vehicle
  • Detail oriented
