Job Summary
The Charge Technologist is a part of a multidisciplinary team and will provide leadership in the area of Mammography within the Diagnostic Imaging Department.
Performing all general Mammography duties, and other duties as assigned, the Charge Technologist will aid in patient flow, be accountable for patient care related activities, and oversee the quality management of Mammography services within the organization.
In close collaboration with the Manager, the Charge Technologist must model a collaborative team-based approach and coordinate operations to uphold current standards of practice.
This role collaborates closely with the Manager to design efficient services and quality improvement initiatives.
Primary Responsibilities
- Provide patient and family focused care within MRT scope of practice
- Function in accordance with established hospital polies and procedures, including emergency codes
- Coordinate training of staff on procedures & equipment
- Provide orientation for staff and students
- Teach, monitor, and evaluate clinical skills of practicum students
- Develop policies and procedures
- Monitor supplies to ensure inventory & ordering processes are complete
- Oversee equipment maintenance to ensure compliance with safety standards
- Participate in department initiatives, including quality and process improvement
- Gather comprehensive data required to facilitate overall improvement initiatives, ensuring accurate information for strategic decision-making and / or Ministry Reporting
Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited Medical Radiation Technologist program
- Must be registered and in good standing with CMRITO
- A minimum of 5 years current experience working as a Technologist in Mammography is required
- Professional Liability Insurance (PLI) is required
- Current hospital experience is required
- Experience with PACS and HIS systems is preferred
- Demonstrates leadership and superior interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to work independently in a fast paced environment
- Ability to collaborate effectively as part of a team
- Superior organizational skills, multi-tasking abilities with good attention to detail
- Proven ability to attend work regularly as per the Attendance Support Policy #HA30 and Procedure #HA35
