Department : Merchandising Reports to : Senior Director, Visual Merchandising Location : North Vancouver, BC Your opportunity at Arc’teryx : As the Director, Visual Merchandising, you set the global Visual Merchandising (VM) strategy and direction for product presentation in our physical retail touch points, with an immediate focus on the North American market.

You lead and mentor an energized team to translate the Arc’teryx product vision through VM strategies, ensuring results are globally consistent and provide an exceptional guest experience with the brand.

You are the driver of direct to consumer VM concepts that support guest-centric story-telling, creates meaningful retail experiences, and increase productivity.

This role is based out of our North Vancouver or Portland office and is open to hybrid work. Candidates must be eligible to work in Canada.

Meet your future team : The Visual Merchandising team is accountable for driving global consistency of VM strategies to support the generation of a world class guest experience, across all channels.

This team develops strategies and execution platforms that allow the design vision and seasonal directives to come to life on the floor and online, maximizing company sales, profits and brand sentiment.

If you were in the Director, Visual Merchandising role now, here are some of the core activities you would be doing :

  • Examining in-season strategies, product windows, and cross-functional collaboration touchpoints to map our guest journey and establish proactive opportunities for evolution
  • Examining the strategy, evolution and execution of key visual merchandising tools and milestones ( store fixtures, mannequins, hangars, lighting, etc.)
  • Leading and mentoring the team to develop, evolve, and scale the visual merchandising tools, processes, principles and communications that support best in class retail experiences
  • Overseeing the team to execute on brand and product vision for the season, ensuring standards are maintained throughout store environments, interiors and windows
  • Overseeing a field team to open new stores in existing and new markets
  • Collaborating with Merchandising team to build model / article capacity strategies that support assortment plans, financial targets and brand strategies
  • Leading the development of formal and scalable field VM training for Commercial leadership teams, in-store VM leads and Wholesale partners
  • Upholding Fair Labor Association’s Workplace Code of Conduct and Principles of Fair Labor and Responsible Sourcing throughout the Arc’teryx supply chain

  • Creating new, inspiring and differentiated visual merchandising strategies for future seasons
  • Partnering with cross-functional team leaders at key Go To Market (GTM) touchpoints to incorporate visual merchandising expertise and tools
  • Creating and managing the corporate visual merchandising budgets

Are you our next Director, Visual Merchandising?

  • You have a university degree in Visual Merchandising, Marketing, Retail, or Business Management
  • You have 10+ years’ experience in a VM, strategy and / or buying leadership role, within a vertical retail, ecommerce, global environment, and +5 years’ experience leading a team
  • You are perceptive, emotionally intelligent and able to partner cross-functionally, able to demonstrate a strong track record of teambuilding.
  • You have strong influential leadership, with the ability to drive alignment across diverse cross-functional stakeholders at all levels of the business
  • You flourish in a fast-growth, entrepreneurial environment and thrive on contributing to our brand and team’s evolution through building relationships and creating partnerships
  • You set a clear vision, align your team around common objectives, and foster commitment to these objectives
  • You have a proven track record in developing and leading the execution of a multi-year business strategy
  • You drive organizational excellence through continuous communication and proactive, solutions-based approaches
  • You have an understanding of and experience with the retail environment, including a strong understanding of planograms, displays, and wall systems
  • You have strong business acumen with the ability to lead in a complex matrix business environment
  • You have the ability to think both strategically and tactically, with a persistent attention to detail
  • You have a great eye for product and product presentation - you are innovative with product visual presentation with a constant focus on brand integrity
  • You have experience using InDesign and Mock Shop and familiarity with the Arc’teryx brand and products
  • You have the ability and willingness to travel internationally

$146,000 - $182,000 a yearA reasonable estimate of the pay range is CAD$146,000 - CAD$182,000 at the time of this posting.

Within the range, individual pay is determined by factors such as job-related skills, relevant experience, education and / or training.

Please note that the range details above reflect the base pay only and does not include our competitive bonus program and benefits that we offer.
