Director Environmental Health & Safety Manager, North America
Are you passionate about leading the charge in environmental health and safety? Plasman is seeking a dynamic, strategic thinker to lead our Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) initiatives across North America.
This role emphasizes the importance of regulatory compliance, risk management, and environmental stewardship within our organization.

Role and Impact in Environmental Health & Safety Leadership
- Establish systems which ensure that all facilities are capable of demonstrating compliance with all applicable local, provincial and federal legislation and regulations, and all Plasman internal EH&S policies.
- Implement Environmental, Health & Safety Programs including the minimum standards of performance, measurement systems, training, performance evaluation systems and utilization of best practices.
- Provide technical and regulatory assistance to plant operations.
- Assist plant management to establish systems, determine accountabilities, and provide education and training for all employees as per the legislative and collective agreement requirements, to ensure continuous improvement and compliance with all applicable provincial and federal regulations and provisions.
- Facilitate health and safety policies and programs with respect to : project planning reviews, approval of new equipment and processes, plant inspections, accident investigations, health and safety compliance audits, lockout / tagout, personal protective equipment, fire safety and emergency planning, facilitate in-plant and air noise sampling surveys.
- Oversee and provide assistance to plant HR regarding WSIB, Workers Compensation (US) Social Security (MX) cost containment strategies and programs to ensure that they are effectively managing all WSIB claims, including an early and safe return to work program.
- Act as Management Representative for ISO , and any other ISO Program.
- Act as reviewer for Phase1&2 assessments related to property acquisition.
- Ensure compliance with all requirements of ISO Program.
- Ensure personal and associate awareness and understanding of ISO / IATF (includes ISO ) Standards, and company policies and procedures.
- During management system audit events provide evidence in support of conformance with applicable standards and procedures and participate in corrective action activities as necessary.
- Manage the companies Kantech access control management system and recommend security management upgrades where applicable.
- Provide support to sustainability protocols while maintaining environmental operational control.
- Represent Plasman at hearings or government proceedings for safety, environment, and Workers Compensation.
Essential Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in related field required. Advanced degree or professional certification (CRSP / CSP or similar) strongly preferred
- Indication of continued education in technical areas
- 10 years experience as a Health & Safety, environmental representative in a related environment
- Must have at least 5 years experience responsible for overseeing EH&S in a senior level capacity with preference given to those who have 8-10 years' experience.
- Personable and positive experience in a union environment
