You have a taste for finance and enjoy the music world, you're looking to make a big impact at a fast-growing SAAS company, look no further! We are looking for a Controller who will be responsible for overseeing the accounting and financial operations of the organization, as well as the administration of expenses and payroll.

Managing a team of 2 employees, the Controller also provides the financial information upon which corporate strategies are based.

The controller also manages day-to-day operations of the organization’s finances as well as financial reporting.

Your Core Responsibilities

  • Manage the day-to-day accounting operations including denoting billing / revenue recognition, manage accounts payable, depreciating fixed assets, executing payroll
  • Conduct the full cycle month-end, quarter-end and year-end closing process by preparing timely and accurate financial statements, their supporting documents, including journal entries, account reconciliations, bank reconciliations, balance sheet reconciliations, income statement and variance analysis
  • Manage the day-to-day cash flow and borrowing needs while maintaining cash flow forecast
  • Manage and comply with government reporting requirements and tax filings, including preparation of Canadian, United States and VAT, sales tax returns, annual payroll, and coordinate with external tax accountants to complete annual review of financial statements and prepare income tax returns
  • Evaluate all insurance needs, prepare annual renewals, and coordinate with broker
  • Maintain the chart of accounts, a system of controls over accounting transactions
  • Monitor debt levels and compliance with debt covenants and calculate financial operating metrics and issue timely and complete financial statements
  • Maintain a documented system of accounting policies and procedures and ensure compliance to applicable laws and regulations;

  • Contribute to the production of the annual budget and forecasts and calculate variances from budget including reporting significant issues to management
  • Lead all aspects related to R&D credit financing and reporting with the support of our VP of Engineering and external R&D consultants
  • Manage royalties to artists and all corresponding tax implications

You are a Finance Professional with...

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting required, with a CPA
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in accounting (industry or accounting firm), with 2+ years as controller an asset
  • Advanced working knowledge of Quickbooks, Nethris, SAGE, G Suite (Google) and Microsoft Office suite
  • Highly motivated and proactive
  • Excellent interpersonal, relationship building and communication skills
  • Resourceful and able to problem solve in order to deliver results
  • Strong organizational skills with excellent attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to plan, prioritize and organize a diverse workload
  • Positive, professional attitude with the ability to work collaboratively
  • Familiarity with the SaaS industry
  • Best practices are second nature, your models are efficient, scalable, and intuitive - you can handle complexity but strive for simplicity
  • Sense of urgency : nothing in the universe will get in the way of delivering your goals
  • A people person with a strong sense of leadership and ownership
  • Bilingual (French, reporting is done in English)
