As a Senior Nursing Practice Initiatives Lead with Vancouver Coastal Health you will :

• Report to the Executive Director, Nurse Patient Ratios, be responsible for setting the strategy and leading the promotion of excellence and advancement of nursing patient ratios relevant to the strategic direction of the Organization.
• Collaborate with the regional Professional Practice team, the Executive Director for Nurse Patient Ratios and other relevant internal / external key partners to guide the development of professional standards and practice, scope and regulations, support research activities, and foster collaboration and problem solving between programs, projects and professional staff.
• Act as an expert resource and provides day-to-day management oversight to Nursing Practice Initiatives Leads for the designated area, and provide expert consultative advice to organizational leaders on nursing issues, including scope of practice, clinical informatics, resource planning and research leadership to enhance the practice environments and achieve effective and efficient quality of care.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

• Master’s Degree in nursing with five (5) to seven (7) year’s recent, related experience and leadership experience in a complex health care environment including program planning, education, facilitation and project leadership or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
• Current practicing registration as a Registered Nurse with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM).

Knowledge & Abilities

• Utilizes comprehensive knowledge of professional practice, nursing regulations and nursing standards and application of these across the continuum of care.
• Understands available resources for practice and keeps quality in the forefront of all resource utilization decisions;

provides knowledgeable input into the planning and resources allocation for Service(s) / Program(s) within the Community of Care.

• Demonstrates comprehensive expertise of area to transform theory into program strategy and direction.
• Facilitates, collaborates and negotiates for effective resolution of practice issues.
• Demonstrated leadership skills and ability to foster a respectful and motivating work environment where individual competencies can thrive.
• Keeps informed about evolving tends and practices, shares knowledge and supports Nurses to integrate evidence-based practice in the delivery of quality care / services while optimizing nursing scope.
• Fosters collaborative and effective working relationships to support the professional practice and ongoing development of staff and contribute to an atmosphere of trust and mutual respect.
• Uses strong written communication skills in the development of reports, business cases, etc. and in internal and external partner engagement.
• Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.
