Imagine stepping into the role of Executive Director, Nursing Strategic Initiatives / Clinical Lead for Nurse Patient Ratio Implementation—a unique opportunity to play a pivotal role in shaping the future of nursing and healthcare. Reporting directly to the Chief & VP, People, Nursing & Health Professions Officer, you'll be entrusted with significant responsibilities and the chance to make a real difference.

In this role, you'll have the exciting task of supporting nursing strategic initiatives and leading the Providence Health Care (PHC) Oversight Committee and Project Teams in implementing Nurse Patient Ratios. Your expertise will be crucial in developing comprehensive plans, ensuring smooth execution, and maintaining compliance with the highest standards set by executive leadership and regulatory bodies.

But it's not just about ticking off boxes—you'll also provide valuable leadership to nursing practice areas, ensuring alignment with Ministry of Health policy and fostering a culture of excellence. Monitoring and evaluating effectiveness will be key, as you lead continuous quality improvement efforts to enhance patient care and outcomes.

Effective communication will be at the heart of everything you do, fostering collaboration among operational leaders, Project Teams, and key partners. In this role, you'll have the opportunity to drive positive change and contribute to the ongoing improvement of healthcare delivery.

  • The salary range for this position is $150,805 - $226,208 depending on experience.

  • Qualifications / Skills and Education

    Masters Degree in Nursing and fifteen (15) years experience in operational and nursing practice leadership or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Registered Nurse in good standing with the British Columbia College of Nurses & Midwives.

    Experience should include senior experience leading nursing practice in a unionized / collective agreement context and working collaboratively and constructively with union leadership and senior experience leading collaboratively with internal and external partners.

  • Knowledge of care delivery across the system and sectors including acute care, community and long term care.
  • Demonstrated ability to think strategically and motivate and influence others to achieve a common goal.
  • Demonstrated ability in implementation planning and execution of plans in a highly dynamic and complex environment.
  • Demonstrated ability in analyzing performance and evaluation metrics and translating information (data and metrics) into process and quality improvement.
  • Demonstrated understanding of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion principles and their application in the workplace.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of Indigenous Cultural Safety and Humility.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills, including leading people with integrity and trust, building a team environment, communicating clearly, fostering potential, leading with vision, inspiring and engaging others, promoting innovation, managing resources, and showing situational awareness.
  • Duties and Responsibilities

    Your Day to Day

    As the Executive Director, Nursing Strategic Initiatives / Clinical Lead for Nurse Patient Ratio Implementation, you'll lead transformative change within Providence Health Care (PHC).

  • Collaborate with key parterns to develop and execute strategic nursing initiatives.
  • Lead and coordinate Nurse Patient Ratio implementation plans across nursing practice areas.
  • Communicate progress, barriers, and risks to key partners and seek feedback for improvement.
  • Engage with various departments to ensure successful implementation and compliance.
  • Analyze and report on patient and nursing satisfaction metrics for quality improvement.
  • Identify and propose solutions for implementation barriers and risks.
  • Foster Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion in workplace improvement actions.
  • Focus on improving Indigenous Cultural Safety and Humility in care delivery.
  • Lead or support additional strategic initiatives as needed.
