Position Summary
Join our dynamic team in the City of Regina’s Central Stores, where you will play a key role in the efficient management of our computerized stockroom.
As a valued team member, you will handle both physical and clerical tasks, including receiving, storing, and issuing supplies, as well as maintaining accurate stock records.
This position is essential to our operations and reports directly to the Supervisor of Central Stores, Salvage & Fuel.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
- Maintain the inventory which includes loading, unloading and transferring stock, labelling items, and reviewing stock quantities to maintain required stock levels.
- Ensure the accuracy of incoming stock against invoices, bills of lading, delivery slips or purchase orders.
- Review and record stock quantities for inventory purposes.
- Provide customer service in filling orders at the wicket.
- Safely operate various types of equipment including ½ ton truck and 3 ton forklift.
- Accurately identify and count stock as listed on the cycle count list
- Perform other related duties as required.
Key Qualifications
- Typically the knowledge, skills, and abilities are obtained through completion of Grade 12 combined with experience in a computerized warehouse, stockroom, fleet servicing garage, or other related environment.
- Class 5 driver’s license
- Knowledge of basic stock room operation related to receiving, storing and issuing supplies in accordance with clearly defined procedures in a computerized environment.
- Knowledge of methods used in storing materials in a stock room and outdoor storage area.
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions and maintain computerized store records.
- Ability to collect and analyze data on a variety of quantity control and operational issues and for statistical information purposes.
- Ability to perform basic data entry into a windows-based computerized database.
- Ability to work independently and / or as a contributing member of a team, exercising initiative and good judgement to complete work assignments.
- Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing demonstrating tact and diplomacy in order to establish effective working relationships with internal and external clients.
- Ability to perform physical labour including heavy lifting up to 50 lbs. unassisted.
- Ability to perform basic math / reasoning skills.
- Ability to operate a 3 ton forklift and a ½ ton truck.
Working / Other Conditions
Must possess a valid Class 5 driver's license.
Additional Requirements
Successful candidate may be required to obtain and provide a satisfactory criminal record check, as per the City of Regina's Criminal Record Check Policy.
Successful candidates will be required to provide proof of acquired education.
Additional assessments may be conducted to evaluate competencies, knowledge, skills and abilities.
