Scope
Reporting to the Manager, Land Development, this position is responsible for the management, technical and administrative direction of the Inspection Services Section within the Land Development Division of the Engineering Department.
Responsibilities
The Inspection Services Section is primarily responsible for monitoring the construction component of all land development projects.
The Inspection Services Manager :
- Ensures servicing infrastructure is completed according to City policies, practices, procedures, and standards.
- Reviews contractors' qualifications.
- Oversees the issuing, tracking and approval of all road use permits, and traffic obstruction permits related to land development projects.
- Controls various financial management responsibilities such as administration of developer letters of credit (release of funds, maintenance holdback, renewal, etc.
and processing related City payments and reimbursements.
- Liaises with the public to address inquiries and concerns.
- Works closely with engineers in the administration of project work.
- Leads a team of unionized inspectors and clerical employees.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or Diploma in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
- P.Eng. designation or eligible for registration with Engineers & Geoscientists of BC is an asset.
- A minimum of 7 years of progressively responsible related experience with extensive municipal construction projects. Experience at a management level within a public environment is also an asset.
- An equivalent combination of directly related education, training and experience may be considered.
- This position requires an individual who can establish strong and respected working relationships with Developers, Engineers, and Contractors, and is capable of organizing a significant workload along with setting priorities and reviewing the work of staff. Other Information
