Duties & Responsibilities :
- Will oversee the Health & Safety program for all Ontario Locations
- Will work with Area PICs assisting them with generating Personal Injury Reports.
- Will work with Area PICs assisting them with generating accident investigations when needed.
- Conduct and maintain monthly inspections and records.
- Prepare safety training materials as outlined.
- Prepare & maintain employee training records
- Train and test all employees according to the annual safety training schedule.
- Handle all environmental issues pertaining to the plants.
- Maintain continuous audits on machinery for improvement.
- Implement the machine-guarding program by checking specific line features and their safeguarding.
- Answer to and follow up on recommendations made by our companies insurance group.
- Conduct routine Safety & Health Inspections.
- Issue safety violations when necessary.
- Maintain MSDS records.
- Team participation in ISO Audits.
- Keep plant safety rules updated.
- Work closely with all personnel to continue having a safe working atmosphere.
- Any other duties or responsibilities as determined by the Manager that would fall within the normal requirements of Safety Coordinator.
- Previous experience in similar safety related role, required.
- Must have regular, reliable attendance and willing to work outside the regular schedule as required.
- Willing to handle job stress and interact with others in the workplace.
- Member of Emergency Response Team to aid in administration of emergency care.
- Perform industrial hygiene testing, report findings / recommendations to Management and coordinate approved improvement projects for abnormal situations found during audits.
- Perform maintenance audits on all safety equipment and fork trucks and coordinate completion of abnormal situations found during audits.
- Establish and maintain safety programs, plans, policies and procedures.
- Coordinate establishment of 5-S Program and maintain program through audits, report findings / recommendations to Plant Management and coordinate approved improvement projects for abnormal situations found during audits.
- Develop and maintain Plant Emergency Response Team (medical, fire, etc.)
- Coordinate investigations and report relevant findings of all recordable incidents.
- Coordinate completion of abnormal situations found during audits performed.
- Follow corporate, site and plant policies, procedures and guidelines when performing above mentioned duties.
- Responsible for documentation of all above duties.
- Work closely with all personnel to continue having a safe working atmosphere.
- Any other duties or responsibilities as determined by the Manager that would fall within the normal requirements of Safety Coordinator.
Requirements :
- Post-secondary diploma
- 3-5 years of work experience in similar safety related role, required.
- Work experience in a manufacturing industry, preferred.
- Excellent communication and team skills.
- Knowledge of the Ontario Health and Safety Act and Regulations, Workplace safety and Insurance Act, Environmental Protection Act.
Work Location : Willing to travel to 3 Inteplast locations in Brampton, Vaughan and Scarborough on a regular basis.
Role type : This person will be a shared resource between 3 Inteplast locations listed above.
