Our team is growing, and as a result we're adding Mine Tailing Engineers to our group.
As part of the Mine Waste team in Western Canada you'll be responsible for driving forward our ambitious plans to enhance our Mine service offering in the province through your work with a close-knit team of engineering specialists, professionals, and technical staff.

A day in the life :
- Support a wide variety of tailings storage facilities and waste rock spoils projects, including and dam safety inspections and reviews, field investigation, laboratory testing and interpretation, design and construction.
- Participate in project tasks such as geotechnical analysis (e.g., stability, seepage, thermal, tailings deposition), interpretation of data, development of recommendations, and preparation of proposals and reports for tailings storage facilities and waste rock spoils.
- Be part of a team that delivers high quality work and reports to the client on time and within budget under the direction of senior engineers.
- Collaborate with mining teams from different disciplines.
- Mentor and effectively delegate work to junior engineers.
- Participate in and promote a safety-first culture.
What you'll bring to WSP ...
- 1 to 5 years of relevant (post-degree) experience working in a consulting engineering or mining industry environment.
- Bachelor's Degree in Civil or Geological Engineering, post-graduate degree is an asset.
- Eligible to register or currently registered as a Professional Engineer in a Canadian province or territory.
- Strong technical writing, interpersonal communication, and emotional intelligence.
- Ability to establish and maintain good relationships with clients and colleagues.
- Be able to work in and / or lead diverse teams and collaborate with interdisciplinary project teams.
- Strong, client-focused project management skills.
- Sound knowledge in soil mechanics and geotechnical engineering.
- Ability to think critically and problem solve.
- Ability to effectively delegate work.
- French or Spanish language skills (verbal and written) would be an asset.
- Commitment to safe work practices for yourself and your colleagues.
- Advanced experience with MS Excel and VBA customization would be an asset.
- Experience with tailings deposition software (Muk3D) would be an asset.
- Experience with mine planning software (MineScape, MineSight, Surpac), AutoCAD, Civil3D would be an asset.
