Overview
Thurber has an exciting opportunity for a Corporate Accounting Manager to join our team in Calgary, Alberta.
Thurber provides geotechnical, environmental, and construction materials engineering and testing services for a variety of industries across Canada.
Our multidisciplinary expertise allows us to work on problems related to earth, the environment, and construction materials.
We solve problems in a wide variety of industries including transportation, building construction, municipal infrastructure, land development, dams and water resources, industrial development, mining, oil and gas, marine, and environmental services.
Responsibilities
- Lead the Finance Team and support the broader admin group to ensure :
- Completion of month and year-end general ledger and journal entries;
- Reconciliation of Balance Sheet accounts;
- Preparation of monthly and year-end financial reports;
- Delivery of monthly returns, survey, and other information requests;
- Analyze financial results and provide feedback to management;
- Coordinate the preparation of the annual audit, corporate tax, SRED, and other returns;
- Direct budgeting and forecasting processes;
- Improve accounting processes and procedures, and implement new software.
Qualifications and Assets
- 8 or more years of relevant accounting experience (Canadian experience is a must);
- Experience working with consulting firms is an asset;
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a closely related field;
- CPA Designation;
- Strong written and verbal communication skills;
- Highly detail oriented;
- Self-motivated and self-directed.
