About the Role
The Advisor / Recruiter, Undergraduate Programs, participates in the development of, and implements the strategic recruitment plans for the School of Interactive Arts & Technology (SIAT) in the Faculty of Communication, Art and Technology (FCAT) in collaboration with the Manager, Academic & Administrative Services and the Director of Student Affairs.
Provides academic advice and administrative support to undergraduate students (first year) in accordance with University, Faculty, and program policies, procedures, and regulations.
Develops a recruitment plan for SIAT; coordinates and participates in recruiting events; advises prospective external and internal undergraduate applicants;
evaluates the effectiveness of recruitment initiatives; and oversees the departmental budget for recruitment and student engagement activities and expenses.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Arts, Communication, or a related discipline and three years of directly related experience including experience in post-secondary recruitment, academic advising, student programming, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Good knowledge of university policies and procedures relating to undergraduate admissions, registration, and graduation.
- Good knowledge of new student experience and recruitment best practices.
- Excellent organizational, interpersonal, conflict resolution, and communication skills (oral, written, and presentation).
- Proficient in the use of a variety of office software applications (e.g., word processing, database, and web-based, and spreadsheet applications) and student information systems (e.g., SIMS).
- Ability to exercise mature judgment, tact, and discretion.
- Ability to apply policies; multi-task; meet strict deadlines; and handle confidential / sensitive material with discretion.
- Ability to arrange suitable transportation when travelling to other SFU campus locations.
