Key Job Responsibilities
- Ensures compliance to OH&S laws, regulations and standards. Provide support and advice to all levels within the organization regarding OH&S Act, Code and Regulation, legal and other legislation as required.
- Drives and supports the Incident Investigation and Injury Management process. Recommend corrective actions. Track proper implementation.
- Promote and drive the use of diverse safety tools (Field Level Risk Assessments, Safety Inspections & Observations, Near Miss report cards).
- Attend area safety meetings and actively participate in work planning processes.
- Monitor safety performance across the business location, analyze stats & trends, and support business management in the development of corrective and preventive action plans to improve performance to meet and exceed goals.
- Be accessible by various levels within the organization as an impartial resource for environmental, health and safety concerns.
- Assist and support the business by monitoring the safety performance of contractors that are performing hands on work within our business.
- Develop and implement training material and EHS policies. Preform EHS orientations. Train employees on general / basic safety related subjects.
- Responsible of safety related databases (Safety record spreadsheet, Incident Database).
- Be the advisor of the EHS Committee.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in a Health & Safety role.
- NCSO, CSO or similar designation. Occupational Health and Safety Certificate and / or Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) certification is preferred.
- Demonstrated experience and a working knowledge of : OH&S legislation, WHMIS, emergency response planning, Lock Out-Tag Out, Fall Protection, Confined Spaces, risk and hazard assessments, and incident investigations.
- Proven analytical and problem-solving skills, individual and team based settings.
- Demonstrated communication, reporting and leadership team skills are essential.
- Self-motivated, adaptable and flexible.
- Ability to manage a wide range of work assignments and changing priorities.
- Field experience is considered an asset.
- Project management skills / experience an asset.
- Proficient use of Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel, Power Point), internet and database experience.
- Up to date Safety tickets : WHIMIS, Confined Space, Fall Protection and First Aid are an asset.
- Must have no restrictions for access for any mine sites.
- Valid Alberta Driver’s License
