Young Adult Life Skills Worker - My Way
27.19 / hr. - $32.76 / hr.)
This position requires individuals with an extensive knowledge of health and social determinants impacting vulnerable people. The Life Skills Coach(s) provides supervision, direction, and support to the young adults engaging in the My Way Program. The Life Skills Coach is expected to provide young adults with the opportunity to heighten their abilities and demonstrate their capabilities in relation to independent living, employment readiness, job search, and social development. This added program area is designed to assist aged 19-29 through adulthood by building on-going supports and further develop independent living situations. This program provides young adults with effective hands on life skill trainings essential for self-reliance as an adult. The successful candidate(s) will report directly to the Team Leader.
The successful candidate must possess the following qualifications :
- Social Services Diploma or related post secondary education and / or combined experience;
- Willingness and ability to work with at-risk adults;
- Awareness of community services, resources, and systems;
- Teach and model effective techniques and interventions;
- Experience in working with Indigenous groups / communities in a cultural context;
- Certification : First Aid, Class 4 Driver's License, Crisis Prevention Intervention, Suicide Intervention, Food Safe; and
- Ability to undergo a successful criminal record search.
The range of duties is varied, but at a minimum will include :
