Whytecliff Agile Learning Centres (walc.ca) in Langley BC is seeking a full-time experienced English & Social Studies Teacher (Grades 8-12) to join our team.

A little about us : Whytecliff is a BC Ministry of Education accredited independent high school for grades 8-12. Our Burnaby campus is comfortably small (and feels less like a school and more like an oversized home), with a tight-knit team of 10 staff serving up to 45 students.

Here, in a calm, caring, and collaborative setting, we serve a variety of truly great kids who arrive with an array of diverse learning needs and social-emotional challenges (such as anxiety, depression, ASD, dyslexia, and ADHD, among others).

Whytecliff is unique. More than just a school, we stand apart as being one of the few programs in North America to seamlessly integrate education and positive youth development work (with a special emphasis on promoting positive mental health & wellness, social connectedness, and personal development).

The position is transdisciplinary’ meaning that teachers often work with youth in other capacities outside traditional classroom duties and activities (such as mentoring, facilitating hands-on and collaborative learning projects, leading field trips and connecting with community resources, and keeping in greater touch with kids' families).

Our educational approach is also cross-curricular’ meaning that teachers often work hand-in-hand with kids and fellow colleagues to help create fun, engaging projects and lessons that can tap into kids’ passions and interests and tie together multiple subjects.
