Overview

Aplin has partnered with a leading organization to recruit a Senior Technical Design Engineer for their operations in Pickering, ON.

Role Details

Title : Senior Technical Engineer (Design Engineering)
Location : Pickering, Ontario – Hybrid (2 days remote)
Duration : 9 months
Hours : 35 hours / week
Contract Type : Open to T4 Employees or Independent Contractors with Aplin
$65 to $70 per hour.

Key Responsibilities

Lead or support engineering design changes, modifications, and upgrades within OPG ECC process

Prepare, review, and approve technical documentation

Conduct field walkdowns, technical assessments, and support problem resolution

Collaborate with cross-functional teams : Operations, Maintenance, Projects, and Vendors

Mentor junior engineers and provide technical oversight

Support root cause analysis, corrective actions

Participate in project meetings, design reviews

Ensure all work aligns with safety, quality, and OPG standards

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Civil, Electrical, or Instrumentation & Controls Engineering

Licensed P.Eng. in Ontario or eligible for PEO registration

OPG Design Engineer qualification required

Minimum 5 years engineering experience in nuclear, power generation, or heavy industrial sectors

Strong technical writing, analytical, and problem-solving skills

Experience with OPG ECC process and engineering standards

Proficient with relevant tools (AutoCAD, AssetSuite, calculation tools); excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Experience with OPG engineering standards, regulatory codes, and procedures is an asset

Proficiency with relevant engineering software and tools (e.g., AutoCAD, AssetSuite, engineering calculation tools)

Demonstrated commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement
