- Required knowledge for this role is considered to be normally acquired by successful completion of a 4-year university degree in an appropriate field of study, such as applied sciences, business administration or economics, including project management as it relates to project and asset management, or by having the equivalent level of education with years of experience accordingly.
Skills/Experience:
- Requires broad experience pertaining to the following to have acquired a sound practical/working knowledge of project processes and controls in order to perform an effective role:
- Project management, specifically, experience in developing project requirements and plans, preparing cost estimates, participating in request for proposal and contract bidding and award processes, managing projects in execution phase, and managing project close-out.
- Managing conflicting priorities of scope, schedule, cost and quality. Design, development, operations, systems, equipment and processes in a generating station or similar heavy industry.
- Solving problems and providing guidance Cost accounting and forecasting as it relates to project management.
- Commercial contracting methods, contract management, construction methods, codes and standards, quality assurance and health and safety.
- Manufacturing and supply techniques.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Effectiveness as a team leader, supervisor and player, and interpersonal relations to understand and manage the interrelationships of various internal and external groups in order to facilitate objectives and ensure projects satisfy stakeholder requirements.
- Environmental protection and associated concerns.
- Managing projects of increasing complexity.
- Project complexity would normally be defined by multiple-contract, multiple stakeholder projects with schedule constraints.
- A period of over 6 years and up to 8 years is considered necessary to gain this experience.
- Experience and knowledge of Fuel Handling systems, equipment reliability and engineering change control process as MTL is an asset.
- Exposure to and familiarity with our client’s project management processes, Project Control, Work management is an asset.
Professional Designations:
- PMP/PgMP will be an asset.
