Capital and Packaging Buyer
The Capital and Packaging Buyer or designate is responsible for sourcing and purchasing of indirect material for defined categories in accordance with Company environmental health, safety, and management policies and procedures in order to meet company objectives.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE :
- Assigned to manage the procurement process of acquiring capital category requirements and packaging category requirements and other categories as assigned for all NA operations.
- Define the category strategies working with the operations team and packaging engineering teams.
- Search the market(s) for potential suppliers in order to develop a supply base with the optimum service level and lowest total cost.
- Present and implement strategies to achieve company and program cost reduction targets utilizing negotiations not limited to unit price, terms of payment, make versus buy, amortization, rebate programs, design / specification standardization, and others as identified for each category.
- Define and implement cost model / estimating database and benchmarking database.
- Maintain an approved flag panel supplier base for each category including but not limited to performance indicators.
- Establish and execute realistic cost improvement targets for the current addressable spend.
- Review purchase price variance and industry trends to forecast changes in each applicable category.
- Lead supplier audits and evaluate suppliers with a defined scorecard.
- Manage the resolution of problems in supplier performance such as quality, delivery, cost and invoicing.
- Prepare maintain and present KPIs based on regular reporting schedule.
- Lead and manage the sourcing process from RFQ process through quotation analysis, summary review and recommendation for sourcing award.
- Complete other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM EDUCATION / OR DESIGNATION REQUIREMENTS :
- Must possess a secondary school diploma or equivalent.
- Certification in supply chain, procurement or purchasing considered an asset.
MINIMUM WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS :
- 3 years of relevant procurement experience in capital equipment packaging or similar category
- Quantitative and analysis skills with a fundamental understanding of raw material, labor, burden structures, and cost drivers.
- Knowledge and experience in using cost reduction tools including global sourcing and aggregating requirements.
- Demonstrated collaboration and interpersonal skills.
- Must be able to read and interpret blueprints.
- Strong communication skills : verbal and written.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to complete multiple tasks within established and changing deadlines.
- The ability to successfully perform with independent problem solving.
