Your Role in Supporting Our Members

As a Network Engineer , you will provide technical expertise in the design, administration, operation, and configuration of Vancity’s network infrastructure. You’ll optimize existing technologies, provide trend analysis, and manage technology lifecycle activities across Vancity’s networking platforms. You’ll play a key role in ensuring a highly stable and secure network environment that meets service level goals while building strong cross-functional relationships to design and implement effective network solutions.

This is a full-time, permanent role based at Vancity’s Head Office in Vancouver. We are open to candidates based in British Columbia and Ontario . This role offers a hybrid work arrangement, with on-site presence required for events and business needs.

A Typical Day Would Involve

  • Designing, developing, documenting, and maintaining foundational network platforms, including WAN, campus networks, disaster recovery, contact center, cloud, security, and wireless environments
  • Supporting day-to-day business needs while adapting network solutions to evolving security requirements and user expectations
  • Providing second-level technical support to the IT Service Desk to ensure service level goals and IT standards are met
  • Conducting qualitative and quantitative analysis for business and technology applications and recommending optimized, cost-effective, and secure network designs
  • Managing and prioritizing a network work‑order queue and coordinating with internal teams and external vendors
  • Identifying opportunities for continuous improvement through technical trend analysis, proactive problem identification, and lifecycle management
  • Resolving IT work orders in accordance with established standards to meet business needs efficiently and reliably
  • Participating in incident response calls and providing hands‑on support during major system outages

What You’ll Bring to the Team

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 2–3+ years of progressive experience in network engineering or infrastructure roles, preferably within complex enterprise or financial services environments
  • Experience with core network infrastructure technologies, including switching, routing, storage, voice, load balancers, and cloud
  • Experience with security technologies such as VPNs, firewalls, and security best practices
  • Basic knowledge of Windows infrastructure (DNS, Active Directory, DHCP)
  • Basic knowledge of virtualization
  • Knowledge of physical infrastructure, including device racking, cabling, and data centre best practices
  • Proficiency with network automation, configuration management, and documentation tools
  • Familiarity with ITIL practices and structured problem-solving in high-availability environments
  • Valid driver’s license

    What You’ll Earn

    This role offers a salary range of $75,700 – $94,000 . Base pay may vary depending on qualifications, skills, experience, and internal equity. Employees may also be eligible for our annual incentive program, subject to program eligibility requirements.
