This is an excellent position for individuals interested in developing their accounting and tax skills. This position allows for exposure to a diverse client base that spans across many different industries.

There may be the opportunity to work minimal hours during the summer months if desired.

Your primary responsibilities will include :

• Review the tax filings (including T1, T2, T3 and T5013 returns) prepared by staff to ensure all tax related matters have been adequately addressed.
• Offer tax planning services to clients.
• Research tax issues and prepare memoranda.
• Identify client service opportunities.
• Participate in special engagements
• Enhancing existing and developing new community relationships and networks.
• Manage staff in the tax group and provide daily guidance, coaching and developing their tax knowledge.
• Supporting and mentoring firm staff in respect of tax matters.
• Preparing and presenting technical sessions for staff.

A successful candidate will have :

• 3 5 years plus of progressive public accounting experience with a tax specialty and a professional designation.
• Bilingual is a requirement
• Successful completion or in the process of completing the CICA In-depth tax course.
• Sound technical knowledge of Canadian tax related issues.
• The ability to provide value-added service to our clients.
• Good technical knowledge of GAAP requirements for tax provisions.
• Computer skills including Caseware and Taxprep.
• Strong understanding of a client-focused environment including related deadlines and the ability to work to meet those deadlines.
• Sound judgment regarding confidential and sensitive matters.
• Excellent interpersonal, communication and organizational skills.
• Attention to detail and accuracy.
• Strong work ethic and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
