The Opportunity :

As a member of the Instrumentation & Data Solutions team, you will be participating in field operations of oceanographic and terrestrial data acquisition programs.

Field activities include deployment, maintenance, repairs and calibration of equipment which requires a high level of health, safety, and environmental awareness that meets or exceeds industry standards.

Office related activities include system operational checks, remote troubleshooting of monitoring systems, and system integration for customized monitoring applications.

What you can expect to do here :

  • You will be responsible for day-to-day project support and tasks assigned by the Technical Manager.
  • You will be working within a team of peers to achieve project deliverables and milestones.
  • You will perform routine equipment maintenance, calibrations, repairs, and provide technical support.
  • You will conduct daily system checks for both marine and terrestrial monitoring applications.
  • You will ensure that quality and safety standards are met.
  • You will manage the warehouse, which includes coordinating with the Technical Manager on organization, shipping and receiving, inventory control, and documentation.
  • You will engage in technical writing in support of projects and proposals.

What you'll bring to WSP :

  • Diploma in Electronics or Instrumentation Engineering Technology, with relevant experience.
  • Experience with Acoustic Doppler Current Profilers (ADCPs), wave buoys, mooring construction, Campbell Scientific dataloggers, Vaisala Remote Processing Units (RPUs), managing contractors, and construction experience is a definite asset.
  • Must be comfortable travelling by vessel, fixed wing, or rotary aircraft.
  • Must be able to travel up to 2 weeks at a time on short notice.
  • Ability to communicate reliably and work extended hours on occasions when required.
  • Must have clean driving record.
  • Must be able to pass required health and safety training programs.
  • Must be confident and competent in a field role.
  • Must be able to pass routine drug and alcohol testing, medicals, and physicals as required.
