Job Description

The Brake Press Operator is responsible for operating a press brake to bend and form metal sheets according to engineering drawings and specifications.

This role involves machine setup, tooling selection, program adjustments, and ensuring the quality of produced parts.

Duties and Responsibilities

Daily checklist of machine startup according to operating instructions.

Review daily schedule and stage all parts at machine centre to be processed for the day.

Assess if job requires one or two operators according to length of part and weight.

Assess if hoist equipment is required to handle parts when loading machine.

Select appropriate tooling for the job and inspect for any defects prior to changeover on equipment.

Perform any corrective action of tooling if required before proceeding with production.

Trouble shoot equipment if required.

Read engineering drawings, architect drawings, sketches and all work instruction to be actioned.

Lay out make measurements and mark sheets according to drawings or any templates.

Interpret layout on drawing attached on Work Order , input correct measurement inputs in CNC equipment.

Make all necessary program adjustments to suit job requirementsSome parts may need specific tools for the job ensure all tools are in quality condition prior to operation.

Ensure all safety light curtains are in working condition before attempting to form any parts.

Product first part and complete the inspection of the first off piece.

Proceed if first off is made to standard and ensure all parts produced meet quality standards.

Skills Requirements

Thorough knowledge of reading and interpreting engineering drawings.

Computer knowledge, ability to operate CNC computer and input all required measurement and coordinates.

Good knowledge of programming.

Fluent with Metric and Imperial measurements with ability to quickly convert from one to the other.

Press Brake operation, forklift operation for material handling.

Working knowledge of English language to interpret instructions on drawings and Work Orders.

Organizational skills, work as team member.

Work with various materials, Aluminum, Stainless, Bronze,

Manganese and Hot Rolled steel up to 3 / 4 in thickness.

Knowledge of tooling and minor repairs

Ability to work in fast paced environment and make changes to schedules when necessary.

License / Certification : Not Required
