(PERMANENT FULL-TIME) Registered Nurse 3- COMPLEX GENERAL PSYCHIATRY

JOB DESCRIPTION

Ontario Shores is currently seeking a full-time Registered Nurse, whose responsibilities will be in the Complex General Psychiatry Clinic in the Outpatient Services. The Registered Psychotherapist will possess sound knowledge of clinical work in the area of mental health and addiction issues and in particular in the delivery of services using DBT and CBT.

Responsibilities include : provision of psychotherapy; provision of some case management; psychosocial assessments; individual, and group sessions; liaison with community social agencies; active involvement as a member of a interdisciplinary team and planning to meet the recovery needs of the discharging client.

Requirements :

• An degree as a Registered Nurse is required
• Training in Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (preferred)
• Completion of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) training with two years' experience in delivery (preferred)
• Registered with the College of Nurses of Ontario in good standing
• Current CPR-HCP is required
• Demonstrated knowledge of Psychosocial Rehabilitation and Recovery
• 3-5 years psychiatric experience in a mental health facility or service preferred
• Demonstrated knowledge of the Standards of Practice and commitment to maintaining reflective practice standards as described by the College
• Demonstrated knowledge of Mental Health, and relevant policies and legislation, such as the Mental Health Act and PHIPA is required
• Knowledge and experience of the challenges involved in community reintegration of short and longer stay psychiatric inpatients
• Ability to work effectively as part of a interdisciplinary team
• Thorough knowledge of evidence based social work treatment methods applied in mental health settings / community
• Demonstrated competence in individual and group therapy and crisis intervention skills
• Demonstrated excellent interpersonal and effective oral / written communication skills
• The ability to work with clients of diverse ethno racial and cultural backgrounds and proficiency in a second language would be considered an asset
• Ability to perform the physical demands of the position on site
• Variable hours may be required due to patient demand
