Job Summary
Social Worker I will include positions with Mental Health and Addictions or Community Supports. Social Workers with Community Supports will work to provide services under the Community Support Program, including Adult Protection Services, Oncology and Dialysis.
The Social Worker I provides professional social work services to clients in a community, health care, correctional or other provincial institutional setting.
Duties include intake / assessment and placement, case management, case planning, individual and group counselling, court work, discharge planning, coordination with other service providers and the provision of education, consultation, guidance and counselling to clients, the general public and external agencies.
Qualifications :
Candidates must possess a Bachelors (or Masters) of Social Work and must provide proof of registration with the Newfoundland and Labrador College of Social Workers;
Knowledge of professional social work practices
Experience in mental health and / or addictions, including individual, youth, family and group counselling is preferred
- Knowledge / experience in crisis intervention and the ability to respond to the emergent needs of clients;
- Knowledge / experience in the areas of health promotion / prevention and the development and delivery of education and training programs;
- Strong interpersonal, analytical, facilitation, written and oral communication skills is required;
- The successful applicant will be required to submit a satisfactory Certificate of Conduct;
Valid driver's license.
Duties : (Included but not limited to)
- Provide intake / screening, assessment, treatment and therapeutic intervention planning;
- Coordinate referrals based on assessed client need;
- Conduct comprehensive interviews with individual and families to assess the nature and extent of problem areas;
- Provide direct in-depth counselling to clients and families, based on assessed needs and goals;
- Locate, arrange and coordinate services and resources, in consultation with other service providers, based on assessed client needs;
- Participate as a member of an interdisciplinary team in the development, implementation and evaluation of services;
- Develop and deliver education, prevention and awareness initiatives;
- Utilize the principles and practices of Continuous Quality Improvement in service and program delivery;
- Adhere to Practice Standards and Code of Ethics, including all relevant Legislation, and departmental and organizational policies;
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation, including clinical documentation using CRMS;
- Maintain workload statistics, and other departmental and organizational reports;
- As a member of the Regional Mental Health and Addiction Services Team, provides support to other members of the interdisciplinary team, which may include providing coverage and / or travelling to various parts of the Region to assist with service delivery;

Salary :
NAPE HP Salary Scales, CG - 39 of the NAPE-HP salary scales $ 36.47 - $40.81 per hour plus applicable Labrador Allowance
