POSITION DESCRIPTION

JOB TITLE : MAINTENANCE MECHANIC

GROUP : SMURFIT WESTROCK

DEPARTMENT : MAINTENANCE

IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR’S TITLE : MAINTENANCE MANAGER

BASIC FUNCTION

The Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for working as a team member ensuring equipment within the plant is regularly serviced and operating smoothly at all times. Maintain continuous contact with the operators of each machine.

SCOPE OF POSITION

Position functions under the guidance of the Maintenance Mechanic Lead Hand but reports directly to the Maintenance Manager. To assist the Maintenance Mechanic Lead Hand in projects as required. Position requirements include a good understanding of all the equipment in the maintenance shop, and good problem‑solving skills.

HEALTH AND SAFETY

Responsible for working in compliance with the provisions of the company’s health and safety regulations.

• Use and wear all protective devises / clothing as required, ear plugs, safety shoes, safety glasses, gloves
• Report to the employer / supervisor the absence of or defect in any equipment or protective devices
• Report to the employer / supervisor any contravention of the Occupational Health and Safety Act or the regulations or the existence of any hazard which he / she knows.
• Report any incident, near miss, or property damage immediately
• Maintain a clean and safe working environment
• Mandatory participation in WRK safety program – BGS, Concern Reporting, etc. see program list for options

Plant / Machinery Maintenance (45%)

Preventative Maintenance (20%)

Trouble‑Shooting (20%)

SQF / Food Safety - 5%
