Job Summary

The Senior Accounting Administrator will support the Finance department by performing a variety of administrative and accounting tasks. This role involves maintaining accurate financial records, processing transactions, and providing support for the annual audit. The Senior Accounting Administrator will lead initiatives to enhance accounting processes, strengthen internal controls, and support automation and system enhancements. The successful candidate will analyze financial data to identify risks, explain variances, and provide meaningful recommendations to management.

Key Responsibilities

• Post AR and/or AP invoices into Business Central ensuring all information is correct (GL/commodity coding, weights, pricing, dates, etc.).
• Perform Customer/Vendor/Bank account(s) reconciliations using external documents and investigate/correct discrepancies as required to maintain clean accounts.
• Complete intercompany transactions as required ensuring all sides balance as per company policy.
• Prepare and post bank payments and receipts following internal procedures.
• Respond to inquiries from vendors, customers, and internal departments.
• Provide support during audits and tax filings.
• Investigate and resolve complex accounting issues, collaborate with operational teams to address root causes, and provide guidance on coding, reconciliations, and accounting procedures.
• Lead accounting process improvement initiatives by identifying inefficiencies, strengthening internal controls, documenting procedures, and supporting automation and system enhancements.
• Analyze account activity, payment trends, aging, and financial data to identify risks, explain variances, and provide meaningful insights and recommendations to management.

Qualifications

• College certificate/diploma in accounting or a related field.
• 5 or more years of progressive accounting experience.

Job Knowledge and Skills

• Demonstrated experience in investigating and resolving complex accounting issues.
• Experience contributing to accounting process improvements.
• Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Excel.
• Detail-oriented with a high level of organization.
• Skilled in working with other employees and all levels of management in a professional manner.
• Experience with accounting software; experience with MS Dynamics 365 Business Central is an asset.
