Job Title : Educational Deaf Interpreter

Position : Full‑time, Term (Contract), one position available

Location : Moncton, New Brunswick, Canada (in‑person services only)

Compensation : $30.07 - $39.88 per hour (in accordance with APSEA / NBU Collective Agreement)

The Educational Deaf Interpreter (EDI) role is responsible for American Sign Language (ASL) linguistic modelling and support to Deaf signing students, along with facilitating the learning of Deaf culture in various educational settings.

Responsibilities

• Provides the Deaf student with ASL instruction in the classroom and social settings
• Supports the student in learning the differences between the unique cultures of home and classroom
• Works alongside the classroom teacher, Supervisor of Educational Interpreting Services, Education Support Teacher‑DHH, and ASL Specialists
• Alongside the educational team, the EDI works to support the student with the transition from an Educational Deaf Interpreter to an Educational Interpreter
