Large ground engineering civil contractor seeking a Field Engineer / Project Coordinator for civil projects

Compensation : $70-80k, depending on experience level. Dependent on experience and education. The client is a progressive company offering employees a competitive salary and comprehensive benefits package.

You will be part of a team for one or more projects working closely with cross-functional project teams including Superintendents, Estimators, Project Managers, Sub-contractors and clients throughout the project lifecycle.

Projects are mainly heavy civil. Role itself could entail being based onsite or head office pending on work type and volume.

Key Responsibilities :

Site role :

  • Assisting Project Managers & Superintendents to ensure that delivery of critical elements are expedited and coordinated;
  • Read plans / drawings and specification and ensure work adheres to these.
  • Work closely with crew’s onsite.
  • Processing subcontracts and purchase orders, as well as assisting with progress claims;
  • Prepare and submit daily time sheets, quantity reports and safety paperwork.
  • Create and manage site documentation such as RFI’s, quality checklists etc.
  • Process all change orders, including assessing cost and schedule impact;
  • Performing routine site visits, inspections and attending site meetings as requested by Project Manager, documenting and distributing associated meeting minutes;

Head Office :

  • Assist in and carry out construction estimates using Bid2Win estimating software;
  • Work with project manager to ensure project costing is accurate and timely;
  • Assist in maintaining and implementing our H&S program.

Required Knowledge and Skills :

  • Completion of Construction Management Diploma at BCIT or similar education;
  • 2+ years’ experience working in construction project management, field experience an asset;
  • Only candidates with authorisation to work in Canada will be considered.
  • Familiarity with drawing reviews, contract administration, document management, scheduling software, change order procedures
  • Some experience or desire to lead projects directly on your own;
  • Excellent organizational, time management, verbal and written communication skills;
  • Ability to establish positive working relationships with a variety of people;
  • Proficiency using Microsoft Excel, Outlook and Word;
  • Experience using MS Project, Bid2Win and Eclipse Software an asset.;
  • The ability work in a team environment.
