The Opportunity :
Olds College of Agriculture & Technology is seeking a driven and creative individual to join our Marketing & Communications department.
We are looking for a candidate who is eager to jump in on various PR, marketing and communications initiatives and who has experience with social media management and other communications projects.
The primary area of responsibility will be to create and curate engaging content and manage our social media communications, including maximizing analytics to increase brand awareness and social engagement.
Secondarily, there will be responsibilities related to internal communications, special projects and supporting the department as a whole.
This position works closely with multiple colleagues and departments across the College to ensure seamless communication executions and a unified voice.
The person in this position may also have the opportunity to work with leadership in ideating new campaigns and planning strategies to move the organization forward.
NOTE : This is a 12 month position
Key Job Functions : Social Media (70%)
Social Media (70%)
Leads content creation, collateral development and messaging for the various Olds College social media channels and accounts.
Oversees, manages and reports on engagement on all social media platforms with the goal of further engaging our existing publics as well as growing our numbers.
Monitors and analyzes performance of social media campaigns, making recommendations to increase reach and efficacy of marketing and communications efforts.
Assists in the creation of graphics, animations / motion graphics, and photography / videography for social media posts and other marketing initiatives.
Special Projects (25%)
Collaborates with Manager, Director and other team members / departments on special projects, as needed.
Identifies and champions opportunities to enhance communication and marketing effectiveness, fostering a collaborative environment to bring innovative ideas to life.
Champions internal communications at Olds College including weekly newsletters for students and staff, digital signage, staff highlights, etc.
Administrative duties (5%)
Ensures signed photo release forms are signed and kept on file.
Assists with booking rooms, photo / video shoots, ordering materials, etc.
Other duties as needed.
Education / Experience / Skills / Knowledge Required :
Must be an excellent writer with a minimum of three years’ experience in journalism, marketing, social media, communications or public relations with an emphasis on content creation.
Minimum two-year diploma in social media marketing, journalism, marketing or communications is required. Degree strongly preferred.
Resourceful self-starter with the ability to adapt quickly to changing priorities and managing tasks from multiple partners.
Experience with social media platforms, social listening tools and methods of monitoring analytics.
Independent worker with good judgment and the ability to take projects from concept to completion.
Ability to bring new ways of thinking and fresh ideas to the communications team.
Technical savvy with the G-Suite and Canva. InDesign and Photoshop chops are a definite bonus.
Proven ability to build and maintain strong relationships with colleagues and internal clients.
Should be highly organized and have good attention to detail.
Strong time management skills and desire to be highly productive are a must.
Conditions of Employment :
This position is office-based on our campus in Olds, Alberta. Relocation assistance is not available for this position.
This is a full-time position, Monday through Friday 8 : 15 am - 4 : 30 pm with occasional need for evening or weekend work due to the nature of the position.
This is a maternity cover for a 12-month contract.
Very few physical demands exist for this position and only as they would relate to minimal set up for events (occasional lifting / moving up to 25 pounds).
Successful candidate must provide current criminal reference check that is free of any offenses.
