Senior Mechanical Designer

We are seeking for a Senior Mechanical Designer to join our growing team, you will be a key member of our engineering team and receive instructions from our senior staff. Our approach is hands on, where you will be involved in project start to finish. Our senior staff will provide one on one training and guidance for you to succeed in your role. You will participate in field surveying, engineering design with one-on-one training sessions by our senior staff, inspections, systems testing and commissioning.

Responsibilities

• Design of building mechanical systems including HVAC, Plumbing & Drainage, Building Automation & Instrumentation
• Field surveying to review existing building systems
• Production of engineering load calculations, equipment sizing and selection
• Production of engineered drawings, details and schematics
• Ensuring designs meet relevant codes and regulations
• Preparation of technical reports
• Coordination with other disciplines
• Contract administration including issuance of site instructions, submittal reviews, field inspections and production of field reports

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (thermos/fluids or building sciences is an asset)
• Minimum 5 years of direct and full time experience in design of building mechanical systems (HVAC, plumbing)
• Proficiency in AutoCAD
• Good analytical skills and attention to detail
• English written and verbal communication skills
• Proficiency with HVAC load calculations (HAP preferred, energy modeling is an asset)
• P.Eng. designation is an asset, or otherwise working towards
• Work well in a team environment and communicate effectively with clients and stakeholders.
• Basic understanding of relevant codes and regulations
• Valid driver’s license and owned vehicle required
