About the Program

Focus Humanitarian Assistance provides emergency relief and brings response and resettlement programs to communities suffering from natural or man-made disasters, and supports the migration and resettlement of individuals and families from affected countries to Canada. Together with its affiliates in Canada, USA, and Europe, FOCUS works to help the vulnerable reduce their dependence on humanitarian aid by facilitating their transition to disaster-resilient communities, creating opportunity for a better quality of life.



As a registered Canadian charity, FOCUS collaborates closely with several agencies including the Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN), and several other like-minded agencies and donor partners.

About the Role

Focus Humanitarian Assistance (FOCUS) Canada is seeking a Summer Intern to support donor services and fundraising activities, based in Toronto, Ontario.



Working closely with the Donor Services Coordinator, the intern will assist with planning, coordination, and implementation of fundraising activities. The role involves donor communications, data management, fundraising, and administrative support to help ensure efficient donation processing and positive donor experiences.



This opportunity offers hands-on experience for individuals interested in the non-profit sector, donor engagement, and fundraising.

Donor Communications· Respond to donor inquiries via phone and email.· Follow up on unsuccessful payments (e.g., cheques, credit cards, or direct debits).· Contact donors with expiring credit or debit cards and update their information to avoid missed payments.

Donor Information Management· Accurately track and update donor contact and payment information.· Ensure timely and consistent data entry and maintenance.



Fundraising Support· Assist in planning and preparing for fundraising events, campaigns, and activities.· Package and distribute campaign materials (e.g., deposit slips, forms, and stationery).· Help manage inventory of supplies and coordinate needs with local or regional leads.

Administrative and Team Support· Coordinate with staff involved in fundraising activities, with guidance from the Donor Services Coordinator.· Support monthly reporting related to donations and collections.· Assist with audit preparation by filing, scanning, and securely storing documents.· Provide day-to-day operational support to the Donor Services Coordinator.

About You

Candidate Profile· Must have legal authorization and documentation to work in Canada.· Must be able to reliably commute to the FOCUS Canada office at 49 Wynford Drive, Toronto.· Completion of a Police Records Check is required.



CompensationAn attractive Stipend will be offered, commensurate with experience, and will be negotiated at the time of the hiring process.
