Hazelwood Construction Services, Inc., a division of The Hazelwood Group, is seeking experienced Class 1 Truck Drivers for various projects all over Vancouver Island.

Union rates apply and all benefits are provided through the International Union of Operating Engineers, Local 115.
Compensation
- $30.68 per hour
- Vacation pay : 13% of your hourly wage
- Benefits eligibility : After completing 250 hours
- Pension contributions : $4.80 per hour worked
Summary
As a Class 1 Truck Driver, you will play a crucial role in our construction operations, ensuring the efficient transportation of materials, equipment, and machinery to and from project sites.
Your expertise in operating pup and tri configurations will be essential for the successful execution of our projects.
Responsibilities
- Safely operate Class 1 vehicles, including trucks equipped with pup and tri configurations, adhering to all traffic laws and company safety regulations.
- Transport various construction materials, including aggregates, soil, gravel, asphalt, and equipment to project sites, ensuring timely delivery according to project schedules.
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of trucks and trailers, identifying any maintenance or safety issues and reporting them to the appropriate personnel.
- Secure loads properly using chains, straps, and tarps to prevent shifting or damage during transit.
- Communicate effectively with dispatchers, project managers, and other team members to coordinate deliveries and ensure smooth logistics operations.
- Maintain accurate records of vehicle inspections, mileage, fuel consumption, and delivery documentation.
- Adhere to all applicable regulations governing the transportation industry, including hours of service regulations and load weight limits.
Requirements
- Valid Class 1 commercial driver’s license (CDL) with a clean driving record.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Class 1 truck driver in a civil construction or similar industry.
- Experience operating pup and tri configurations is required.
- Strong knowledge of safe loading, unloading, and transportation practices.
- Ability to read maps, follow directions, and navigate efficiently to various job sites.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high safety standards.
- Flexibility to work overtime, weekends, and travel to different project locations as needed.
