Job Description :

This Senior Analyst, Valuations position is an internal valuation’s role, part of the Finance team and not part of their deals team.

Reporting to the Senior Director, the Senior Analyst, Valuations will be an integral contributor to the valuation process for our client’s private equity investments.

The role is responsible for reviewing and evaluating the semi-annual and annual Private Equity valuations prepared by Investment Management and communicating any concerns to the Senior Director.

Key Responsibilities Also Include :

  • Assist with Private Equity valuation review process including reviewing investment valuation memorandums prepared by Investment Management, preparing independent valuation models, evaluating comparable trading multiples and market transactions, and general research into industry and market conditions.
  • Review quarterly Limited Partners (LP) reports to ensure fair values and Co-investments are reasonable and supportable as well as gather relevant valuation metrics to develop and populate knowledge database as it relates to key information disclosed by the General Partners (GP) including multiples on sale of investments.
  • Assist the Senior Director with the onboarding of new investments into the valuation process.
  • Ensure understanding of new deal structure, review legal documents, and Investment Management investment memorandums, set up new valuation models, track investment financial metrics and financial updates, review MD&A and keep current on investment lifecycle.
  • Assist in external audit process. Prepare working papers and supporting documentation and respond to queries from auditors relating to valuations.
  • Respond to queries from Investment Management and provide materials and analysis as requested.
  • Assist with the preparation of monthly, quarterly and year end reporting requirements as needed.

Job Requirements :

  • Undergraduate degree in Finance, Commerce or related discipline
  • Professional designation such as CPA and CBV (or working toward the designation)
  • 4+ years experience in business valuation with a focus on private equity
  • Big 4 Public Accounting Firm experience a strong asset
  • Experience in use of Capital IQ software is a MUST
  • Experience in Black Scholes option pricing is a strong asset
  • Strong research skills
  • Strong financial modelling skills
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • Attention to detail and accuracy and completeness is very important along with ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to facilitate interaction with Investment Management team and external Fund Managers
  • Ability to respond to queries on numerous topics effectively and promptly
  • Proactive self-starter who is highly motivated and result-oriented
  • Ability to work independently with minimal direction
