Job Description
As part of the Saskatchewan Action Plan for Mental Health and Addictions Provincial Opioid Agonist Therapy (OAT) Project Team, the Provincial Physician Project Lead will work collaboratively with the Ministry of Health and Saskatchewan Health Authority joint project team and stakeholders to provide medical expertise, oversight, opinion and guidance to the development of a provincial OAT program aimed at improving high quality, safe and barrier free access to addiction medicine services across the province.
Roles and Responsibilities to include but not be limited to :
- In partnership with the Provincial OAT project team, participate and oversee work plan development and project implementation, monitor progress, deliverables and accountabilities for the Provincial OAT Action Plan for MHAS Priority Project.
- Advocate and build relationships with stakeholders inclusive of co-leading the OAT Project Prescriber Advisory Committee.
- Aid in the development and review of policies, procedures and physician service models as they relate to patient care and in alignment with clinical standards, guidelines and best practice.
- Participate in the development and delivery of education and training as it relates to the project and program implementation.
- Act as a liaison to the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Saskatchewan (CPSS) OAT Program, Saskatchewan Medical Association (SMA) Addictions Committee and other practitioner association / regulatory bodies related to the delivery of addictions medicine.
- Demonstrates strong leadership to enable an innovative, client centric and positive working culture that aligns with the project vision and values.
Job Qualifications
- Licensed medical practitioner in good standing with the
- CPSS OAT Prescriber Authorization with a minimum 2 years of prescriber experience.
- Participation in the Canadian Medical Association’s Physician Leadership Institute would be an asset
- Additional training and / or education in leadership / management would be an asset
- Experience, at an operational level, as a medical leader who has worked in partnership with administrative leaders to develop and lead innovative planning and programs in a complex, multi- stakeholder environment would be an asset.
- Has knowledge of and experience in guiding health quality improvement processes and initiatives
- Valid Class 5 driver’s license
